It was a day to forget for Essendon with quiet performances across the boards. They should welcome back Kyle Langford (foot) from injury, while a few Bombers put their hand up for a recall in a 30-point VFL win over Brisbane. Elijah Tsatas racked up 35 disposals at the lower level, while Will Setterfield (29 touches, one goal), Liam McMahon (six goals) and Jade Gresham (one goal from 23 disposals) also played well. Zak Johnson (28 touches) and top mid-season recruit Jaxon Artermis (19 disposals, one goal) returned from injury and surely get a crack in the senior team at some stage. Meanwhile Hussein El Achkar had eight tackles after he had none in the senior team the week prior.
