American superstar Errol Spence Jnr has offered to fight Tim Tszyu during an incredibly tense \u2018Face to Face\u2019 interview which also saw the Australian accused of being both a liar and disrespectful to the future Hall Of Famer.<\/p>\n

Tszyu, meanwhile, has questioned how he can possibly talk up exactly what form of Spence will be fronting a card billed as the biggest in Australian boxing history, especially with \u2018The Truth\u2019 having spent three years out of the ring.<\/p>\n

Less than a fortnight out from the July 26 Tszyu-Spence blockbuster in Sydney, American promoters PBC have released a piece which, hosted by \u2018Showtime\u2019 Shawn Porter, has involved the headliners trading barbs for several minutes.<\/p>\n

At one point as the fighters eyed each other from across a table, Spence even accused Tszyu of lying about not knowing what was coming before asking: \u201cYou wanna spar today?\u201d<\/p>\n

Unsurprisingly, Tszyu had absolutely no problem with that.<\/p>\n

Around which time, Porter \u2014 who will be working the Main Event commentary desk on Sunday week \u2014 reminded both men that nobody gets paid for sparring, and that they should save the animosity for their hyped Afterpay Arena event.<\/p>\n

While the pair were largely cordial for most of the interview, things heated up late when Porter asked Spence if the Australian was ready for him?<\/p>\n

\u201cI think so,\u201d the former welterweight king replied. \u201cWhy wouldn\u2019t he be?\u201d<\/p>\n

But then when Tszyu was asked the same?<\/p>\n

\u201cWe shall see,\u201d the Aussie deadpanned.<\/p>\n

Which, immediately, brought a response from Spence.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe cap on that,\u201d fired the longtime superstar who boasts wins over the likes of Mikey Garcia, Kell Brook, Yordenis Ugas, Danny Garcia, Chris Algieri, even Porter. \u201cHe know better than that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tszyu: \u201cWhat\u2019s cap?\u201d<\/p>\n

Spence: \u201cCap. Means you\u2019re not telling the truth.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tszyu: \u201cI\u2019m bluffing?\u201d<\/p>\n

Spence: \u201cYeah\u201d<\/p>\n

Tszyu: \u201cWe shall see \u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

Spence, getting more animated now, continued: \u201cNah, there ain\u2019t no \u2018we shall see\u2019. You know how I come. You know how \u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

Tszyu: \u201cI know what you\u2019re made of, of course. But what I\u2019m saying is, when it comes to fight night, as Mike Tyson once said \u2018when you get hit, all your plans change\u2019. So that\u2019s it. We shall see.\u201d<\/p>\n

Spence: \u201cAlright\u201d.<\/p>\n

Tszyu: \u201cI\u2019m not saying it in a disrespectful way am I? I\u2019m saying it in a respectful way.\u201d<\/p>\n

Spence: \u201c[Saying] \u2018we shall see\u2019 is like, he may be ready \u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

Tszyu: \u201cWell, how am I supposed to know?\u201d<\/p>\n

Spence: \u201cIt\u2019s kind of dismissive.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tszyu: \u201cNo, no. I respect what you\u2019ve done in your career. But you haven\u2019t had a fight in three years. How can I say this, this, this \u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

Which is when the American kicked it up a notch.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou wanna spar today?\u201d Spence fired from across the table.<\/p>\n

Tszyu: \u201cLet\u2019s go.\u201d<\/p>\n

Spence: \u201cWe can spar?\u201d<\/p>\n

Tszyu: \u201cLet\u2019s go.\u201d<\/p>\n

Spence: \u201cC\u2019mon then.\u201d<\/p>\n

At which point, Porter quickly interrupted to remind the pair how nobody gets paid to spar.<\/p>\n

Then turning towards Tszyu, and in a bid to continue the conversation, Porter continued: \u201cListen, he gave a definitive answer, saying \u2018he\u2019s ready for me\u2019. And I think he wanted that definitive answer back. You said \u2018well see\u2019 \u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

Tszyu: \u201cI can\u2019t give a definitive answer.\u201d<\/p>\n

Spence: \u201cAnd that\u2019s OK because he don\u2019t know. Like I said to the reporters, people got questions on how is Errol Spence gunna show up. Is he 60 per cent, 70 per cent? Is he still good? And I\u2019ve said [those questions] are just. So maybe I am being a little combative.\u201d<\/p>\n

To which, Porter then asked exactly where this fight will take place? Middle of the ring?<\/p>\n

\u201cWe shall see,\u201d Spence laughed.<\/p>\n

Turning then toward Tszyu, Porter asked if the man sat opposite was everything he had expected him to be.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, he is,\u201d the Aussie grinned. \u201cAnd his shiny white teeth\u201d.<\/p>\n

But this time, Spence wasn\u2019t biting, Instead, and when asked if Tszyu was as advertised, he replied: \u201cYeah, he\u2019s 30, looks strong.\u201d<\/p>\n

While the interview was only released on Tuesday in Australia, it was actually shot several weeks ago, and straight after the two headliners had appeared on stage at a Las Vegas press conference to announce the fight.<\/p>\n

As a result, Porter kicked things off early with questions about Spence having snubbed his handshake offer.<\/p>\n

\u201cI respect him,\u201d the American started. \u201cBut it\u2019s more about the timing and the moment. We\u2019re gearing up for war.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m coming into his home country. He\u2019s looking to retire me while I\u2019m looking to take over in his country. Disappoint him and his fans. And I told him, I\u2019ll shake his hand and give him a hug after the fight. But right now, it\u2019s war time. Time to go.\u201d<\/p>\n

To which says what?<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s alright,\u201d he replied. \u201cIf we\u2019re going to play like that, that\u2019s alright. I get how it is and I\u2019m sweet with that.\u201d<\/p>\n

So it\u2019s war now, Porter asked?<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s no war now,\u201d Tszyu continued. \u201cBut there is gunna be war on fight night. And I\u2019m geared up for it. I\u2019m locked in now. This has just made me more focused.\u201d<\/p>\n

Which is also how it stayed even until late in proceedings, when the pair were also both asked if they had any last words?<\/p>\n

\u201cAh, I don\u2019t really have any last words,\u201d Spence said. \u201cJust be ready. I\u2019m looking forward to coming to Australia. I\u2019m looking forward to fighting in front of your hometown fans. And I\u2019m looking forward to disappointing you and your fans \u2026\u201d<\/p>\n
