After being traded from the Charlotte Hornets to the Minnesota Timberwolves, point guard LaMelo Ball is looking forward to sharing the floor with one of the league’s best young stars.<\/p>\n
Ball told reporters<\/a> during his introductory press conference with the Timberwolves on Tuesday that he can’t wait to take the court with star shooting guard Anthony Edwards.<\/p>\n “I’ve known Ant for a minute,” Ball said. “We’ve been talking, everybody excited, we ready to get to work.”<\/p>\n Ball was also asked if he’s reached out to star free agent LeBron James to pitch him on joining the Timberwolves for his 24th NBA season, and he was coy with his response.<\/p>\n “Yeah, whatever you’re thinking,” he\u00a0told reporters<\/a>\u00a0with a laugh.<\/p>\n Ball played in 72 games for the Hornets last season and averaged 20.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, 7.1 assists and 1.2 steals. He’s joining a Timberwolves team that went 49-33 with Edwards leading the way, ranking third in the NBA with 28.8 ppg.<\/p>\n Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch discussed Ball’s potential impact on the team, naming multiple players he can elevate as the new floor general.<\/p>\n “He can unlock Rudy [Gobert] to another level at the rim,” Finch\u00a0told reporters<\/a>. “We gotta find ways to generate more catch-and-shoot opportunities for Anthony because he’s elite at that. \u2026 He can help Jaden [McDaniels] take the next step.”<\/p>\n Veteran guard Josh Green, who was sent from Charlotte to Minnesota alongside Ball, spoke about what it’s like to be his teammate.<\/p>\n
