World Golf<\/a> Hall of Fame member Nick Faldo teed off on Bryson DeChambeau<\/a>, accusing the two-time major winner of having \u201czero clue of strategy\u201d for links golf ahead of this week\u2019s The Open Championship<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Faldo, 68, who counts three claret jugs among his six major titles, said DeChambeau\u2019s power-hitting, attack-oriented approach won\u2019t work at links courses like Royal Birkdale Golf Club.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d say it to his face – DeChambeau has zero clue of strategy,\u201d Faldo told Sky Sports.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe said last year: \u2018I\u2019m going to go out and attack the links.\u2019 Well, I\u2019ve never attacked a links. You thread it, don\u2019t you? You feed it down the fairway.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou look at humps and bumps. If I send it over and feed it, it nudges back into play.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou don\u2019t think: \u2018Oh, I\u2019ll just blast it down there. Can\u2019t see where I\u2019m going.\u2019 The fairway is 20 yards wide.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019ve got to think: \u2018How do I get it on the short grass?\u2019 It is so important.\u201d<\/p>\n

DeChambeau, 32, brings a dubious streak into the 154th Open in Southport, England.<\/p>\n

The LIV Golf member missed the cut at each of this season\u2019s first three grand slam events.<\/p>\n

Both of DeChambeau\u2019s major wins came at the US Open, in 2020 and 2024.<\/p>\n

His best finish at The Open is a tie for eighth in 2022 at St Andrews in Scotland – the year Australia\u2019s Cameron Smith<\/a> triumphed – and he tied for 10th last year at Royal Portrush in Ireland.<\/p>\n

DeChambeau does have two LIV Golf wins this season and sounded confident upon his arrival at Royal Birkdale.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a tough golf course; I like it,\u201d DeChambeau said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt really tests every facet of your game.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve got new irons in the bag. They were 3D-printed. They take about an hour to print. From machining and printing and all the different processes we make.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf I feel good, I know I can give myself a chance. I know I haven\u2019t had the best results this year, but I\u2019ve won twice, and top-three\u2019d three times. Just a couple of weird things happening at the majors.\u201d<\/p>\n
