<\/a><\/p>\nSeton received a late call-up to drive Matt Stone Racing\u2019s wildcard at the Reid Park street circuit when Cam Crick pulled out for health reasons.<\/p>\n
Already down to run a wildcard at Ipswich and co-drive in the Enduro Cup with Zach Bates, Seton slotted in for his maiden single-driver event.<\/p>\n
The 28-year-old qualified and finished outside the top 20 on each of the three days, but left happy that he\u2019d achieved his own targets.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe improved every session, we made the gap to the front smaller every session and our pace got better and better,\u201d Seton told Speedcafe.<\/p>\n
\u201cTownsville\u2019s not an easy track. It\u2019s quite physical and very technical with the kerbs and the asphalt, which is quite hard to drive on.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo, I feel like it was quite a solid weekend for us. We\u2019ve come out of it with no damage and plenty of racing miles.\u201d<\/p>\n
Seton insists he\u2019s not lifting his expectations for Ipswich, despite the circuit\u2019s simpler nature and a test undertaken at the venue earlier this month.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t want to have any expectations. I just need to prepare the best I can and do the best I can each day and keep developing as a driver,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhether it\u2019s running in 26th or the top 10, it was all about learning this weekend and the same as QR. There\u2019s no expectations on results.\u201d<\/p>\n
Seton\u2019s Camaro competed in retro colours celebrating those worn by father Glenn en route to the 1993 Australian Touring Car Championship title.<\/p>\n
The livery was run by Glenn Seton Racing for six years following its inception in 1989 \u2013 a period where Glenn and his father Bo worked closely together.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been a pretty special weekend to have the livery that we had, the race suit, the pit walling\u2026 it was a tribute not only to Dad, but to Pop as well,\u201d Seton reflected.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe lost him earlier this year, so it\u2019s a pretty special moment and I\u2019m looking forward to running the number 30 retro entry at Queensland Raceway again.<\/p>\n
\u201cObviously, a few sponsors will change spots, but it\u2019s a very eye-catching car that you can always pick in the pack.\u201d<\/p>\n
The livery concept was originally scheduled as a one-off for Ipswich before being brought forward to Townsville and supplemented by Crick\u2019s own sponsors.<\/p>\n
\u201cI can\u2019t thank Cam Crick enough for the opportunity,\u201d Seton added.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe really wanted to be here and he was trying his best to be healthy for it. I know he\u2019s pushing harder than ever to make it for the enduros and he\u2019s on the right track.\u201d<\/p>\n
Seton\u2019s maiden single-driver event made for a remarkable career comeback story, having stepped back from Super2 at the end of 2023.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s been a pretty crazy journey,\u201d said Seton, who returned to Supercars by sharing an MSR wildcard with Crick in the Enduro Cup last year.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn 2023, I was quite ready to step back from racing and three years later I\u2019m doing two solo main game rounds and the enduros.\u201d<\/p>\n
Seton will co-drive alongside Zach Bates in the Enduro Cup while Crick is scheduled to share with Jack Le Brocq.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Aaron Seton in action at the Townsville 500.
