The brand-new Teal Party has flopped in its first political test, struggling to attract voters in its debut appearance in the exclusive Sky News Pulse poll.<\/p>\n

Community Strong Australia, the newly formed party created by Zali Steggall and Allegra Spender<\/a>, recorded just 2 per cent of the primary vote in its first poll.<\/p>\n

That result would match what the failed Trumpet of Patriots party captured at the 2025 federal election.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Sky News Pulse \/ YouGov poll<\/a> from July 7-14 found the fledgling party\u2019s support was zero in several states, including SA; WA; and ACT, NT and Tasmania combined.<\/p>\n

The party recorded 4 per cent in New South Wales \u2013 where both its current members Ms Spender and Ms Steggall reside \u2013 and 2 per cent in both Victoria and Queensland.<\/p>\n

Community Strong Australia also outperformed among left-wing voters, with 3 per cent of people who voted Greens in 2025 turning to the party.<\/p>\n

The polling came after SkyNews.com.au revealed Teal MPs overwhelmingly vote alongside the Greens in the House of Representatives.<\/p>\n

Ms Steggall voted with Greens MPs 1,667 times and against them 643 times since May 2022, agreeing with the party 72.2 per cent of the time.<\/p>\n

Ms Spender voted with Greens MPs 1,116 times and against them 554 times, backing the Greens on 66.8 per cent of votes.<\/p>\n

By comparison, Opposition Leader Angus Taylor voted with the Greens 6 per cent of the time, while Prime Minister Anthony Albanese voted with the Greens 89 per cent of the time.<\/p>\n

Despite its meagre support, Community Strong Australia has flagged plans to contest both House of Representatives and Senate seats at future elections.<\/p>\n

Several prominent crossbenchers, including Kooyong MP Monique Ryan, Indi MP Helen Haines, and Clark MP Andrew Wilkie have all ruled out joining.<\/p>\n

Bradfield MP Nicolette Boele and Mackellar MP Sophie Scamps both left the door open to signing up to the party in the future.<\/p>\n

Community Strong Australia was launched after the Albanese government introduced political donation reforms which favoured registered parties.<\/p>\n

It has positioned itself as a \u201ccommunity-powered\u201d political force focused on integrity, evidence-based policy and accountability.<\/p>\n

Opposition Leader Angus Taylor seized on the new alliance to argue the move to establish a Teal Party simply formalised a previously existing pact.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe ‘Teal Party’ was launched years ago. Let’s be clear, they were launched years ago,\u201d Mr Taylor said as the party was announced.<\/p>\n
