A lawyer for the New Jersey woman accused of sexually assaulting a 2-year-old girl<\/a> claimed the sick caught-on-video assault was \u201cblown out of proportion\u201d as she tried to blame the tot for the alleged abuse, according to a report.<\/p>\n

Victoria Cranmer sobbed during a hearing where a judge ruled she would be held without bail for the \u201cbizarre\u201d and \u201ctroubling\u201d May 6 incident that took place when Cranmer was watching the child inside the girl\u2019s home while her mom was out, according to a report by the Asbury Park Press<\/a>.<\/p>\n

At the hearing, Cranmer\u2019s own lawyer, Marissa Koerner, said the 14-second Snapchat video showed an \u201cinnocent moment,\u201d<\/a> and was not a crime.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnyone who has spent time caring for young children understands that children often have little appreciation for personal space or privacy,\u201d Koerner said.<\/p>\n

\u201cYoung children routinely follow parents or caregivers into bathrooms, touch things, ask questions, are curious and fail to recognize ordinary social boundaries.\u201d<\/p>\n

The clip allegedly depicted Cranmer sitting on the toilet and laughing as the little girl touched Cranmer, prosecutor Lynn Juan told the judge.<\/p>\n

Cranmer and her lawyer tried to blame the 2-year-old for the alleged abuse, according to a report from her courtroom appearance. Ocean County Jail<\/p>\n

But Koerner said: \u201cChildren often engage in funny, spontaneous or strange behavior that adults record because the moment is memorable or humorous.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe video has been blown out of proportion.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ocean County Judge Kenneth Palmer appeared unpersuaded by the defense attorney\u2019s arguments, saying: \u201cThe word to describe it is bizarre.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI find it to be troubling there wasn\u2019t any attempt to stop the child from touching her,\u201d Palmer said.<\/p>\n

The 25-year-old Cranmer was allegedly caught after a pal whose house she had been staying at for three months took back the phone she bought for Cranmer only to find the video on Cranmer\u2019s Snapchat account.<\/p>\n
