Luai said he fully expected to be at the Tigers next season before making the move north, but Wests decided to take control and move him on.<\/p>\n

Things have gone downhill for the Tigers since late April when Luai confirmed he would use a get-out clause in his five-year Wests deal to link up with the Chiefs.<\/p>\n
The club was running third, but has only won two games since and has slipped 10 spots on the ladder and is nearly out of finals contention.<\/p>\n
When asked if his shock PNG signing was the reason the club had suffered such a drop in form, Luai wasn\u2019t backing away from it while being typically on the front foot.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m not too sure but if it did affect anyone, me making a call on leaving the club 18 months prior, I\u2019ll wear that,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re obviously judged on results and we haven\u2019t had many go our way since then.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t need to justify anything or explain myself about what has happened up until this point. I\u2019m just here to show support to the club and the decision they made.\u201d<\/p>\n

Luai claimed he and the club were \u201call on board\u201d for the remainder of the season after a few tough conversations with Marshall.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m not holding any grudges. My main thing now is to adapt and move on and enjoy my footy,\u201d Luai said. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s been tough. There\u2019s a lot of noise around at the moment and everyone has an opinion and sometimes everyone thinks their option is important because it\u2019s there for the world to see and hear.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve had that conversation (on selection). If I\u2019m not doing the job, let the boys have a run now. But if I\u2019m the best man for the job, put me in there.\u201d<\/p>\n
Luai has been named at five-eighth for this weekend\u2019s must-win game against the Bulldogs at Accor Stadium<\/p>\n
A loss will end the Tigers season.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve got a job to do as captain of this club while I\u2019m still here. I\u2019ll put my best foot forward and that\u2019s the way I can show the boys I\u2019m locked in for the rest of the year,\u201d said Luai, who was asked if he\u2019d made a positive impact during his time at the Tigers.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re not getting wooden spoons here anymore, so that\u2019s a tick in that box,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
