CCTV footage has emerged of the moment an AFL star was involved in a collision with a pedestrian while allegedly driving without due care.<\/p>\n

Dramatic footage obtained by 7News shows the moment of impact between the car of Adelaide Crows defender Josh Worrell and a 29-year-old man in Woodville on Friday.<\/p>\n

The incident happened about 8.30am in Port Rd, on the edge of Adelaide.<\/p>\n

The short clip shows the collision, then Worrell’s Toyota HiLux pulling over and mounting the kerb shortly afterwards.<\/p>\n

The AFL star then agreed to take the man to hospital following the incident, with both parties attending later that afternoon to report the collision.<\/p>\n

However, their reports did not come within the timeframe required for Worrell to avoid charges.<\/p>\n

“Following investigations, the 25-year-old driver was reported for aggravated driving without due care and failing to present to police within 90 minutes after a collision which resulted in injury,” a SAPol statement reads.<\/p>\n

“He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.”<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the state’s most senior cop, Police Commissioner Grant Stevens, said he had not been briefed on the incident due to a conflict of interest.<\/p>\n

Mr Stevens, who ordinarily would be briefed on an incident involving a high-profile suspect, had to excuse himself from the investigation due to sitting on the AFL club’s board of directors.<\/p>\n

Despite the incident, Worrell went on to play the full game for the Crows in their 128-49 victory over Gold Coast at the Adelaide Oval on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Speaking with the media on Tuesday, his coach Matthew Nicks said the club was continuing to support Worrell following the incident.<\/p>\n

“It’s been a pretty challenging few days for Josh, he’s working through after his accident,” he told reporters this week.<\/p>\n

“But we’re just doing whatever we can to support him through that.”<\/p>\n

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Adelaide Football Cub said: “The Adelaide Football Club is aware of one of its players being reported by South Australia Police for aggravated driving without due care and failing to present to police within 90 minutes after a collision which resulted in injury.<\/p>\n

“It follows the player being involved in a traffic accident last Friday morning.<\/p>\n
