SUPERCARS fans are seeing a different Jack Le Brocq<\/a> this year as the veteran strives to carry Matt Stone Racing into the finals series.<\/p>\n

\u201cQualifying has usually been a strong point for me and racing has probably been the part that has lacked, but we\u2019ve sort of swapped that this year,\u201d Le Brocq told V8 Sleuth.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s good that we\u2019ve picked up the racing side because that\u2019s what scores the points, but we definitely need to find some form in quali.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2018JLB\u2019 simply hasn\u2019t felt comfortable in extracting one-lap pace from the Sherrin Rentals Camaro, but that has been offset by a deliberately tougher edge to his approach to wheel-to-wheel combat.<\/p>\n

\u201cI suppose the racing style has changed over the last couple of years, which has been great,\u201d explained the 34-year-old.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s great for the sport and everyone is having a crack and I think we\u2019re getting some good entertainment out there and for the fans back at home, so I just had to lift to that level.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s something that I came into this year wanting to achieve and I feel like I\u2019m getting my head around it and having a bit more of a dip.\u201d<\/p>\n

Having outscored James Golding<\/a> 292-185 across the past two rounds, Le Brocq has jumped the Blanchard Racing Team recruit for 10th in the championship \u2013 to the tune of 11 points.<\/p>\n

With ninth-ranked Chaz Mostert<\/a> 105 points ahead of Le Brocq and 12th-ranked Jayden Ojeda<\/a> 126 points behind Golding, the last playoffs berth is shaping up to be a potential showdown between Cars #4 and #7.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s what we\u2019re sort of starting to realise,\u201d said Le Brocq, albeit noting there\u2019s plenty that can play out yet.<\/p>\n

\u201cJimmy is back in 11th now so he is probably the one car we need to try to keep in front of over the next four rounds,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo be honest, anything can happen. We have just got to keep going out there and putting it in the 10.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou could have a really good next three rounds and then Bathurst have something shocking happen, you end up 20th and get no points and you\u2019re out.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s just being consistent over the next four rounds.\u201d<\/p>\n

MSR had two cars in the mix for finals last year, before a Bathurst 1000 engine failure cruelled Nick Percat<\/a>, and a Lap 160 Kai Allen<\/a> pass denied Cameron Hill<\/a>.<\/p>\n
