Among a range of typical AGM discussions, Cricket Shepparton president Narelle Claney confirmed the push for a girl\u2019s competition is still high on the agenda, as well as boosting women\u2019s participation numbers.<\/p>\n
A major win in that aspect would be to expand the women\u2019s league to five teams this summer, with Tatura pushing its case for that license.<\/p>\n
Currently, the league features Kyabram, Mooroopna, Nagambie and Shepparton Youth Club United.<\/p>\n
Tatura is almost a guarantee to be one of the junior girls cricket teams when the competition forms as it already fielded a girls only team in a mixed competition last summer, but has hopes of a senior program also.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe girls and women\u2019s competitions were both brought up (at the AGM),\u201d Claney said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re really keen to get more participation, and having another women\u2019s team up and going is one of our focuses.<\/p>\n
\u201cTatura is very eager to have a team.\u201d<\/p>\n
The expressions of interest form for youth girls and women\u2019s cricket can be found on the Cricket Shepparton Facebook page, and will help determine team numbers and potential girls clubs for this summer, and aid Tatura\u2019s case for both a girls and women\u2019s side.<\/p>\n
Additionally, the subject of neck-protecting guards on helmets was not discussed at the AGM.<\/p>\n
