Essendon<\/a> great Matthew Lloyd<\/a> has criticised the Gold Coast Suns<\/a>, calling out the club\u2019s \u201cundisciplined\u201d behaviour both on and off the field during the 2026 season. <\/p>\n

While the Suns have plummeted to 14th on the AFL<\/a> ladder, they remain just one win away from breaking into the wildcard spot. <\/p>\n

Their recent on-field struggles have been exacerbated by Damien Hardwick calling the team \u201cpathetic\u201d<\/a> last weekend before the club\u2019s CEO had to step in<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Days later, Jamarra Ugle-Hagan<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Mac Andrew<\/a>\u00a0were in the headlines after footage circulated online showing the pair leaving a toilet together.<\/p>\n

Both players strongly denied any misconduct<\/a> – a stance the Suns have echoed.<\/p>\n

Weighing in on the incident on Nine\u2019s Today, Lloyd suggested fans can \u201cmake of it what you will,\u201d but emphasised that the situation is characteristic of a club that has become the biggest disappointment of the 2026 season.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe club (has) put out a statement saying they\u2019ve spoken to the players, they believe their version of events, really. So, at this stage, it\u2019s just two boys, two guys who have gone in and used the disabled toilets which they shouldn\u2019t,\u201d Lloyd said.<\/p>\n

\u201cMake of it what you will, but there\u2019s no evidence of anything other than that.\u201d <\/p>\n

Despite the lack of evidence of further wrongdoing by the two Suns players, Lloyd was scathing in his overall assessment of the team\u2019s current trajectory. <\/p>\n

\u201cGold Coast are in free fall. They\u2019ve lost seven in a row, they\u2019ve been the biggest disappointment of the season. They can\u2019t turn it around,\u201d Lloyd explained. <\/p>\n

\u201cUndisciplined on the field, some will say undisciplined off the field as well. So, it\u2019s been just a horror year for them.\u201d <\/p>\n
