Kamara had been on a deal that carried a cap hit of around $10.4 million for 2026.<\/p>\n<p>But his future with the team was in question when <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/03\/10\/sports\/alvin-kamara-retirement-rumors-swirl-after-saints-52m-travis-etienne-signing\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">they added fellow running back Travis Etienne<\/a> on a four-year, $48-million contract this offseason after he rushed for 1,107 yards and seven touchdowns with Jacksonville last season.<\/p>\n<p>The 30-year-old Kamara did not attend voluntary workouts but made a return for OTAs.<\/p>\n<p>He said throughout the process there was <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/06\/03\/sports\/alvin-kamara-has-no-beef-or-bad-blood-with-saints-after-skipping-workouts\/?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">no \u201cbad blood\u201d with the organization<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Alvin Kamara of the New Orleans Saints takes part in drills during mandatory minicamp. Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn my side, I feel no beef or bad blood,\u201d Kamara told reporters in June. \u201cI\u2019m going to do what I do every year. Working \u2026 I\u2019m going to do what I do every year. Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Kamara is coming off a season in which he was limited to 11 games due to a knee sprain, putting up career-lows in rushing yards (657) and touchdowns (one). He\u2019d largely been healthy previously, playing in at least 13 games in each of his first eight NFL seasons.<\/p>\n<p>Still, he\u2019s a five-time Pro Bowler who has eclipsed 1,400 yards from scrimmage in four different seasons.<\/p>\n<p>The 2017 AP NFL Offensive Rookie told reporters in October that he would rather \u201cgo drink a pina colada somewhere\u201d than play for a team other than the Saints.<\/p>\n<p>For now, he can hold off on the beverage.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"After months of uncertainty about his NFL future, Alvin Kamara is staying in the Big Easy.
