{"id":803652,"date":"2026-07-16T09:33:18","date_gmt":"2026-07-16T09:33:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/803652\/"},"modified":"2026-07-16T09:33:18","modified_gmt":"2026-07-16T09:33:18","slug":"cam-van-den-dungen-replaces-richard-craill-in-speedseries-commentary-line-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/803652\/","title":{"rendered":"Cam Van Den Dungen replaces Richard Craill in SpeedSeries commentary line-up"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/2026-betr-Darwin-Triple-Crown-Saturday-Z81_2628.jpg\" alt=\"SpeedSeries makes call on Craill commentary replacement\"\/><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tRichard Craill has been named Supercars&#8217; new voice of the sport.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/speedcafe.com\/2026-oil-survey\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1037838\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/survey-oil-728x90-1.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"728\" height=\"90\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/speedcafe.com\/supercars-news-2026-townsville-500-tv-commentary-richard-craill-speedseries-porsche\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Long-time SpeedSeries caller Craill left the series with immediate effect following his appointment as Supercars\u2019 lead commentator.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Van Den Dungan, another SpeedSeries regular, will step in for the next two rounds of the calendar in Darwin and Sydney, while there has been no confirmation for the final round at Sandown.<\/p>\n<p>The Victorian\u2019s tenure with the SpeedSeries dates back to the inaugural Shannons Nationals broadcast, and he has featured regularly throughout the 20-year history of the series.<\/p>\n<p>Most recently, Van Den Dungan featured as a substitute for Chris Stubbs at the Queensland Raceway round last year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Shannons SpeedSeries has always been close to my heart. I was part of the very first broadcast at Sandown many years ago, so it\u2019s exciting to be back with a championship I\u2019ve loved for a long time,\u201d Van Den Dungen said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRichard has been a huge part of the Shannons SpeedSeries, so stepping into the role is bittersweet. Whether it\u2019s calling the racing or working in pit lane, it\u2019s all about making sure the story is told the right way.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of the biggest drawcards for me was the people. Rusty [Greg Rust], Stubbsy [Chris Stubbs] and the entire broadcast team are first-class, and I\u2019m really looking forward to working alongside them again.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a brilliant team to be part of. Image: Supplied<\/p>\n<p>Van Den Dungan is not the only new face to join the broadcast team this season.<\/p>\n<p>Bathurst 1000 winner Lee Holdsworth will join the coverage in place of Nick Percat, who will be unavailable in Darwin.<\/p>\n<p>Holdsworth will provide expert commentary from the drivers\u2019 perspective, expected to fill Percat\u2019s regular slots for GT World Challenge and Monochrome GT4 Australia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m really excited to join the Shannons SpeedSeries broadcast team,\u201d said Holdsworth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve done a bit of commentary before and really enjoyed it, so I\u2019m looking forward to working with Rusty, Stubbsy, Cam and the rest of the crew in Darwin.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t spend much time at racetracks these days so it\u2019s a great opportunity and one I\u2019m really looking forward to being involved with.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve raced GT cars for a number of years, I know the category and the drivers pretty well.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHopefully I can give viewers some insight into what the drivers are experiencing behind the wheel and add a bit of perspective from having raced against many of them myself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The pair will join regulars Rust, Stubbs, and Charlie Barlow for the coverage, which will be broadcast live on Fox Sports and Kayo.<\/p>\n<p>GT Festival Darwin will be held at Hidden Valley on July 24-26.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/speedcafe.com\/motorsport-news-2026-shannons-speedseries-gt-festival-darwin-hidden-valley-track-schedule-broadcast-details\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">SpeedSeries releases track schedule for maiden Darwin visit<\/a><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Richard Craill has been named Supercars&#8217; new voice of the sport.
