Miers is \u201cgettable\u201d<\/a> this off-season despite being contracted at the Cats until the end of 2028.<\/p>\nSEN\u2019s Tom Morris says Miers has already been linked to Carlton, while there\u2019s the possibility he could be reunited with ex-Cats assistant now Melbourne coach Steven King.<\/p>\n
Fox Footy\u2019s experts agreed Miers proved a difference coming back in the Cats line up on Thursday night.<\/p>\n
\u201cPlayed a month in VFL, he played that well that they just had to pick him again,\u201d AFL great Jason Dunstall praised.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd he just showed us exactly what he\u2019s capable of doing.<\/p>\n
\u201cI dare say he won\u2019t be playing VFL again.\u201d<\/p>\n
Michael Voss described Miers as Geelong\u2019s \u201cmissing magnet\u201d while Jack Riewoldt said the star was \u201cinvaluable\u201d to the Cats\u2019 forward line.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s a quality player,\u201d Voss said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI know he hasn\u2019t achieved All Australian (honours), but he\u2019s certainly played good enough over his career to be able to warrant that sort of attention.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s just the best kick inside 50 in the comp really,\u201d David King added.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s his status.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s what he does \u2013 four kicks inside 50 tonight: three scores, two of them goals. Simple as that.<\/p>\n

King said it was a \u201cvery interesting\u201d couple of weeks while Miers was sent back to the VFL, where he dominated.<\/p>\n
\u201cJason Dunstall asked Chris Scott what\u2019s happened to (Brad) Close and (Gryan) Miers \u2013 why aren\u2019t they in this line up?\u201d King said.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe sort of denied it two weeks ago that it\u2019s a problem.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut when you see it tonight, you think this is Geelong.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis looks like the Geelong line up that we\u2019ve been expecting for the last two months.\u201d<\/p>\n
Speaking post-match, Scott was hesitant to share the selection conversations he\u2019d had surrounding Miers.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve thought about this a bit as there\u2019s a part of me that wants to explain in detail, but I think it\u2019s better coming from Gryan,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI just don\u2019t want to betray the confidence that I ask for and I think the players ask for from me when it comes to private conversations. But you\u2019ve got to say something.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe main thing is there\u2019s been a collaboration.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe see ourselves as partners anyway \u2013 the coaches and Gryan have been working really hard on the situation at the moment.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe just thought being a little bit more conservative with him and making sure he was really ready to go was the right course of action. And again, it\u2019s easy to say, well he played well tonight so you feel vindicated.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut it\u2019s more complicated than he\u2019s had a sore knee and we need to give him a little bit of time.<\/p>\n
