Aubrey Plaza is \u201cokay, but it\u2019s like a daily struggle, obviously.\u201d The Agatha All Along<\/a> star recently stopped by her old Parks And Recreation co-star Amy Poehler\u2019s Good Hang podcast, on which she opened up about how she\u2019s been doing the past year. In January, Plaza lost her husband, Jeff Baena<\/a>, to suicide, and has has hesitated to speak about it publicly since. \u201cRight in this very, very present moment, I feel happy to be with you,\u201d Plaza replied when Poehler asked how she was feeling. \u201cOverall, I\u2019m here and I\u2019m functioning. I feel really grateful to be moving through the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

At the same time, Plaza shared a \u201creally dumb analogy\u201d (her words) to contextualize her grief. \u201cIt was kind of a joke at a certain point, but I actually mean it,\u201d she said, asking Poehler if she\u2019d seen Apple TV+\u2019s The Gorge<\/a>, starring Anya Taylor-Joy and Miles Teller.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the movie, there\u2019s a cliff on one side and there\u2019s a cliff on the other side, then there\u2019s a gorge in between, and it\u2019s filled with all these like monster people that are trying to get them,\u201d she explained, \u201cI swear, when I watched it, I was like, that feels like what my grief is like\u2026 or what grief could be like, where at all times, there\u2019s a giant ocean of awfulness, that\u2019s, like, right there, and I can see it. Sometimes I just want to dive into it, and just be in it. Then sometimes I just look at it, and sometimes I try to get away from it. But it\u2019s always there.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ever-present as that grief may be, Poehler was very quickly able to get Plaza laughing again with a quip about how Taylor-Joy \u201cis an example of\u2026 the more beautiful you are, the more spaced out your eyes are.\u201d You can watch the full interview below:<\/p>\n
