India<\/a> team management has thrown its weight behind struggling opener Rohit Sharma<\/a> amid speculation back home that Sunday\u2019s third one-day international against England at Lord\u2019s could be his last.<\/p>\n

The 39-year-old managed a laboured 26 off 47 balls on Thursday as England won the second match in Cardiff to level the three-match series.<\/p>\n

Rohit has now gone 11 ODIs without a hundred and his poor run of form raises questions about his place for next year\u2019s World Cup, which South Africa will host along with Zimbabwe and Namibia.<\/p>\n

The Indian Express newspaper said the 39-year-old former India captain had been informed the selectors had decided to \u201cmove on\u201d.<\/p>\n

There have also been reports that his parents have arrived in London ahead of what many believe will be his final match. <\/p>\n

Batting coach Sitanshu Kotak, however, said white-ball stalwart Rohit was \u201ctoo good\u201d a player to feel any pressure.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, he didn\u2019t get runs, but I don\u2019t think that makes any difference,\u201d Kotak told reporters after Thursday\u2019s loss, dismissing suggestions that Rohit was struggling.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn a particular day, many batters don\u2019t get the momentum they are looking for, and that can happen. You might see a completely different innings from Rohit Sharma at Lord\u2019s.<\/p>\n

\u201cRohit probably didn\u2019t get balls in his areas and didn\u2019t get going. That\u2019s what I felt. So I wouldn\u2019t say he was struggling.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rohit is the only batter to have scored three 200-plus scores in ODIs, including a 264 against Sri Lanka, which remains the highest score by a batter in the 50-over format.<\/p>\n
