Jon Rahm was given a code-of-conduct warning after throwing his club following an errant tee shot in the second round at the Open Championship<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Rahm, who finished the day four shots off the lead, sent his tee shot to the left of the green on the 15th hole and subsequently flung his iron into the air in frustration.<\/p>\n

The Spaniard, who is known for wearing his heart on his sleeve, was given an official warning and will now incur a two-shot penalty should he be involved in another incident this tournament.<\/p>\n

He risks disqualification with a third violation.<\/p>\n

Although when speaking to reporters after the day\u2019s play, Rahm hit back at suggestions that it is anything to worry about.<\/p>\n

\u201cI shouldn\u2019t have acted that way but… I mean, you guys are acting like it\u2019s every single hole. I had a moment,\u201d Rahm responded when asked if he could control the outbursts through the rest of the tournament.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m definitely more intense and \u200bpassionate than a lot of the players out \u200bhere, especially \u2060at work. But I wasn\u2019t thinking about it. It\u2019s not like I\u2019m going to — if I try to alter who I \u2060am \u200btoo much, it might cost me \u200ba little bit on the course.<\/p>\n

A journalist then replied by reminding Rahm that \u201cif it happens again\u201d he will cop a two-stroke penalty.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s pretty severe,\u201d the journalist added, to which Rahm simply reiterated \u201cif it happens\u201d.<\/p>\n

Rahm also took issue with one reporter describing him as an \u201cemotional\u201d player, explaining that he was simply taking his frustration out on a \u201cbad shot\u201d and nothing more.<\/p>\n

\u201cActually on the tee it was beautiful, left-to-right wind, perfect distance for a 6-iron for me, aim at the left bunker and just make a driving range swing that I\u2019ve made hundreds of thousands of times, and it was just such a bad miss, honestly,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\u201cTrying to hit a fade and draw it — I had a few pulled missed left shots. 14, I played it almost like I did yesterday, right? I think the unexpected, how unexpected that shot was, and shouldn\u2019t have reacted that way, but I did.\u201d<\/p>\n

It capped off a tense press conference between Rahm and reporters, beginning right at the top when he was asked if he received any information from officials on the warning.<\/p>\n

Question: What did the officials tell you after the round?<\/p>\n

Rahm: Nothing after the round.<\/p>\n

Question: During the round?<\/p>\n

Rahm: Yeah. Well, you guys are asking. You know the answer.<\/p>\n

Question: I don\u2019t know the answer.<\/p>\n
