Had a big snap [and] lost the car&#8230; it took a lot longer to recover and by the time I recovered, I was already off the track and I could not get it back.<\/p>\n<p class=\"typography-module_body-s-regular__ul7F5 typography-module_md_body-m-regular__d9VRg typography-module_lg_body-l-regular__dPa5z\">&#8220;Not the end of the day we wanted, but for sure the guys are going to get it back together tomorrow and then we will focus on trying to get to the top 10.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"typography-module_body-s-regular__ul7F5 typography-module_md_body-m-regular__d9VRg typography-module_lg_body-l-regular__dPa5z\">Alpine&#8217;s Managing Director Steve Nielsen admitted that the team had planned to make big changes to Gasly&#8217;s A526 before Saturday, having focused on aero performance during the opening session before looking at <a class=\"text-brand-hot-red underline decoration-1 hover:decoration-[3px]\" data-f1rd-a7s-click=\"rich_text_atom_click\" data-f1rd-a7s-context=\"eyJhY3Rpb25UeXBlIjoib3V0cmlnaHRfbGFwX3RpbWVfaW5fZnAyX2xpbmtfY2xpY2tlZCIsImNsaWNrVGV4dCI6dHJ1ZSwicGF0aCI6Imh0dHBzOi8vd3d3LmZvcm11bGExLmNvbS9lbi9sYXRlc3QvYXJ0aWNsZS9mcDItYW50b25lbGxpLWZhc3Rlc3QtZnJvbS1ub3JyaXMtYW5kLXZlcnN0YXBwZW4tYWhlYWQtb2YtYmVsZ2lhbi1ncmFuZC1wcml4LjFkTWs5YTdXZ05nT1hQUE9uQXk5TlciLCJwYXRoVHlwZSI6ImludGVybmFsIn0=\" href=\"https:\/\/www.formula1.com\/en\/latest\/article\/fp2-antonelli-fastest-from-norris-and-verstappen-ahead-of-belgian-grand-prix.1dMk9a7WgNgOXPPOnAy9NW\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">outright lap time in FP2<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"typography-module_body-s-regular__ul7F5 typography-module_md_body-m-regular__d9VRg typography-module_lg_body-l-regular__dPa5z\">&#8220;Pierre is fine, the car is not fine,&#8221; explained Nielsen. &#8220;We were changing the PU on that car tonight anyway, so while it&#8217;s quite a long jobs list for the mechanics, half of it we were already doing. No problem to be ready for tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p class=\"typography-module_body-s-regular__ul7F5 typography-module_md_body-m-regular__d9VRg typography-module_lg_body-l-regular__dPa5z\">&#8220;This morning was never about lap time for us, it was always about accumulating data. And then this afternoon we looked a bit more at lap time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"typography-module_body-s-regular__ul7F5 typography-module_md_body-m-regular__d9VRg typography-module_lg_body-l-regular__dPa5z\">&#8220;Pierre did set a reasonably competitive time but it was deleted for track limits at Turn 4 which is a shame. But the car seems to have a little bit of pace here, more so than the last couple of races.
