Residents at a social housing complex in Perth\u2019s south-west claim they\u2019re so desperate for water, some have resorted to drinking from bird baths.<\/p>\n

They\u2019re accusing the WA government of leaving them in a growing health crisis after weeks of water problems.<\/p>\n

The Beaconsfield residents can\u2019t shower, flush the toilet, wash dishes or clothes because they have no running water.<\/p>\n

They\u2019re left to fill up buckets and kettles from an outside tap after a pipe burst in their latest water saga.<\/p>\n

\u201cLiving like hell,\u201d Ian Fegan told 9News.<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean everyone\u2019s starting to smell and all that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Taps carry barely trickling water for the 13 residents, some who have complex health problems.<\/p>\n

They told 9News they couldn\u2019t carry out basic human needs.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy toilet is starting to fill up now because I can\u2019t flush the toilet,\u201d Laurence Mather told 9News.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t have a shower, there\u2019s absolutely no water supply now.\u201d<\/p>\n

For a month, there\u2019s been little water pressure at their complex.<\/p>\n

On Friday night a pipe burst, cutting off water to their flats entirely.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo I came out at 5am and there was a resident drinking from the bird bucket over here,\u201d Mather said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a family with kids here with kids as well,\u201d Fegan said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean I feel sorry for the kids.\u201d<\/p>\n

The state government said department staff resolved a water pressure issue earlier this week with contractors called out again on Saturday afternoon to investigate why the problem wasn\u2019t resolved.<\/p>\n

The housing is slated to be demolished within the next year as part of a re-development plan for the Beaconsfield area.<\/p>\n

Residents are now asking for emergency accommodation.<\/p>\n
