The Knights<\/a> have suffered a worrying injury concern early in the NRLW<\/a> season after Yasmin Meakes left the field with a knee problem during her side\u2019s 38-0 win<\/a> over the Dragons<\/a>. <\/p>\n

In the 28th minute, Meakes left the field with assistance from medical staff after pulling out of a tackle suddenly. <\/p>\n

Earlier the Origin star was down on the ground clutching at her left knee after she was brought down by three defenders.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt takes so many to take her down the ground, she fights for every inch,\u201d Ruan Sims said on Nine\u2019s coverage. <\/p>\n

Meakes had been tackled with opposite number Ella Koster behind her while the other two defenders went high from in front. <\/p>\n

The second-rower eventually rose to her feet and played the ball as play continued.<\/p>\n

However, three sets later Meakes attempted a tackle on Koster, who palmed her off. <\/p>\n

Meakes immediately went down with the medical staff running over to her straight away. <\/p>\n

\u201cThis is bad signs for the Knights,\u201d Sims said.<\/p>\n

Allana Ferguson added: \u201cI don\u2019t like the look of this.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meakes was then helped from the field and officially taken out of the game.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey lose a lot with Meakes off the field,\u201d Ferguson said. <\/p>\n

\u201cFirst of all, her leadership, she gets through a tonne of work … fingers crossed it\u2019s not as bad as it looks.\u201d <\/p>\n

Post-match, Meakes managed to walk into her press conference and was asked if the issue was from contact or twisting. <\/p>\n

\u201cYou know what, it could be a little bit of old age … I actually have no idea,\u201d the 32-year-old smiled. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a little bit sore. I\u2019ll go for scans tomorrow and make a plan from there, I\u2019ve got no idea what\u2019s wrong with it but it\u2019s a little bit tender.\u201d<\/p>\n

At the time of Meakes\u2019 injury, the Knights were leading 12-0 after she scored a try herself. <\/p>\n

Her departure didn\u2019t hurt Newcastle\u2019s dominance in the match, finishing with the side\u2019s biggest win in history.<\/p>\n
