Fresh off his World Cup<\/a> heroics, Socceroos<\/a> goalkeeper Patrick Beach has landed a major overseas move, signing with French Ligue 1 side Troyes. <\/p>\n

Beach was a shock starter in the Socceroos\u2019 first World Cup match against T\u00fcrkiye but rewarded coach Tony Popovic\u2019s faith with a superb showing<\/a>. <\/p>\n

He was selected in every World Cup match from there before being controversially substituted for Mat Ryan<\/a> in the penalty shootout against Egypt<\/a>, which the Socceroos lost. <\/p>\n

Beach was on the radar of 2. Bundesliga side Hannover 96 and confirmed to reporters after the Egypt match there was interest in his services. <\/p>\n

However, Troyes swept in with Beach opting to leave Melbourne City and play in one of Europe\u2019s top leagues. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe last three years at Melbourne City have shaped me so much, both as a player and as a person,\u201d Beach said in a statement. <\/p>\n

\u201cThis club has given me the opportunity to challenge myself every day, improve my game and ultimately fulfil my dream of representing the\u00a0Socceroos\u00a0and Australia at the FIFA World Cup.\u00a0I\u2019ll\u00a0always be incredibly grateful for that.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cMy teammates, coaches and all the staff have played such an important role in my journey, and I\u2019ll leave with friendships and memories that I\u2019ll carry with me forever.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Melbourne City director of football Michael Petrillo commended Beach\u2019s attitude during his time at the club. <\/p>\n

\u201cFrom the day he arrived, Patrick embraced every challenge. Nothing was handed to\u00a0him\u00a0and he earned every opportunity through his commitment to improving every day.\u201d<\/p>\n

Melbourne City did not reveal the transfer fee paid by Troyes. The 22-year-old\u2019s deal at the French club runs until the end of the 2031 season. <\/p>\n

The last Australian to play for Troyes was Nicky Carle in the 2002\/03 season.<\/p>\n

Beach isn\u2019t the only Socceroo to have made a move after the World Cup with Cam Devlin switching from Hearts to Rangers in Scotland. <\/p>\n

Paul Okon-Engstler is reportedly set to join 1.
