Terence Crawford has named a former world champion as the \u201cface of boxing\u201d, convinced that Jaron \u2018Boots\u2019 Ennis simply has more work to do.<\/p>\n

While coming off a star-making performance, it is difficult to declare that Ennis, a two-weight unified champion, is now the bona fide \u201cface of boxing\u201d.<\/p>\n

A selection of fans, meanwhile, have nonetheless attempted to make this argument following his sixth-round stoppage over Xander Zayas<\/a> last month.<\/p>\n

But while it was, indeed, a scintillating display that saw him claim the WBO and WBA titles, there is still a way to go before \u2018Boots\u2019 becomes a mainstream attraction.<\/p>\n

Until then, most will continue to regard Canelo Alvarez<\/a> as the sport\u2019s biggest crossover star, even if he happens to be inching closer towards retirement.<\/p>\n

Having consistently been involved in pay-per-view events for over a decade, the Mexican remains a widely supported figure in American and Hispanic communities.<\/p>\n

And despite losing his undisputed super-middleweight crown to Crawford<\/a>, who unanimously outpointed him in September, Canelo is still attempting to compete at world level.<\/p>\n

As a result, \u2018Bud\u2019 named his last opponent after being asked by The Breakfast Club<\/a> whether Ennis is now the face of boxing.<\/p>\n

\u201cCanelo\u2019s still the face of boxing. For sure.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite coming off a defeat, Alvarez has secured another world title fight against Christian Mbilli, who was elevated from \u2018interim\u2019 to full WBC champion following Crawford\u2019s retirement announcement in December.<\/p>\n
