{"id":810638,"date":"2026-07-19T18:07:11","date_gmt":"2026-07-19T18:07:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/810638\/"},"modified":"2026-07-19T18:07:11","modified_gmt":"2026-07-19T18:07:11","slug":"tsitsipas-ends-trophy-drought-with-swiss-title-win","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/810638\/","title":{"rendered":"Tsitsipas ends Trophy drought with Swiss title win"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former world No.3 Stefanos Tsitsipas has won his first tour-level title since Dubai in March 2025 by lifting the Swiss Open in Gstaad.<\/p>\n<p>Stefanos Tsitsipas ended a 16-month wait for an ATP Tour title when the Greek \u200cdefeated Belgium\u2019s Raphael Collignon to win the \u200cSwiss Open in Gstaad.<\/p>\n<p>The 6-4 6-7 (7-3) 6-3 victory was Tsitsipas\u2019 first \u200ctitle since he beat Canada\u2019s Felix Auger-Aliassime in the Dubai Tennis Championships final in March 2025 and the 13th ATP singles crown of his career.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would like to start \u200cby mentioning \u200chow amazing \u2060the final was today,\u201d Tsitsipas said. \u201cIt\u2019s been \u200ba long time so it does mean a lot to me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 27-year-old, a former world No.3, currently ranked 85th in the world, produced a strong serving performance in the \u2060two-hour 17-minute contest on Sunday, firing \u200cfour \u200baces without a double fault.<\/p>\n<p>He won 21 of 29 \u200bpoints on \u200chis second serve and saved two of the four break \u200bpoints he faced.<\/p>\n<p>Tsitsipas took the opening set before first-time ATP Tour finalist Collignon fought back to level \u200bthe \u200bmatch in a \u200bsecond-set tiebreak.<\/p>\n<p>The Greek regained control \u200cin the decider, however, securing the break he needed to seal the title.<\/p>\n<p>The triumph provides a timely confidence boost for two-time Grand Slam finalist Tsitsipas as he looks \u200bto build momentum ahead of the US Open, which \u200bbegins on August \u206030.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-357112\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/Colingnon-945496-WEB_EK-768x512.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"768\" height=\"512\"  \/>Raphael Collignon will rise to a career-high World No. 37 as a result of reaching the Swiss final. . It\u2019s been a long week,\u201d Tsitsipas, now a 13-time tour-level champion, said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s been a lot of crazy matches and I need some recovery and some rest in order to be ready for the American swing.
