The man wanted the seven-word phrase, \u201dIn times of peace, prepare for war\u201d, tattooed across his upper chest during an eight-hour session at a Bali studio.<\/p>\n
But when the job was finished, there was one glaring problem.<\/p>\n
Instead of \u201cpeace\u201d, the tattoo read \u201cpiece\u201d.<\/p>\n
The cringe-worthy mistake quickly went viral after footage was shared on Instagram, with social media users piling on the jokes.<\/p>\n
\u201dWhat a fantastic peace of work,\u201d one quipped.<\/p>\n
Another chimed in: \u201dYou get what you pay for.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Bali tattoo studio later told Yahoo that the spelling mistake had since been corrected.<\/p>\n

Award-winning Perth tattoo artist Khail Aitkel said the mishap should be a lesson for Australians heading overseas for cheaper ink.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe client should have double-checked his stencil, being in a country that doesn\u2019t typically speak English,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith that being said, it\u2019s the artist\u2019s job to produce the right design for his client.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is what being cheap or careless will cost you.\u201d<\/p>\n
Bali has become a hotspot for Australians chasing bargain tattoos, with prices often a fraction of those charged at home.<\/p>\n
While a small tattoo in Australia can cost from about $120 and a full sleeve up to $5000, similar work in Bali can start at around $60, with sleeves often costing less than $2500.<\/p>\n
Mr Aitkel said price should never be the deciding factor.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s important to look beyond cost and choose a reputable studio with experienced artists, strong reviews and clear hygiene practices,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cLower prices can be appealing but standards, regulations and aftercare practices range differently between countries.\u201d<\/p>\n
A Queensland tattoo artist said that he regularly sees the aftermath of overseas ink jobs gone wrong.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo be honest, I\u2019m getting pretty sick of people asking me to fix Bali stuff-ups,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
