Funeral plans have been made following the death of Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler<\/a> on July 9, 2026. <\/p>\n

The celebration of life service and procession has been planned for August, with fans encouraged to attend to pay their respects. <\/p>\n

Bonnie Tyler, whose name at birth was Gaynor Hopkins, was famous for the \u201980s hits Total Eclipse of the Heart and Holding out for a Hero.

Tyler\u2019s coffin will be brought to her home in Mumbles, Wales, with people invited to pay their respects by lining the street on Newtown Road at 3:15 pm. <\/p>\n

A celebration of life will then be held at St Mary\u2019s Church, Swansea on August 17 at midday. Tyler will then \u201creturn to her hometown\u201d, a place called Skewen in Neath Port Talbot for a private family service. <\/p>\n

A notice from William Pressdee Funeralcare on behalf of Tyler\u2019s family said that she would be remembered as \u201ca warm, generous artist whose music touched generations and continues to fill dance floors and karaoke booths around the world\u201d.<\/p>\n

The notice also requested \u201cfamily flowers only\u201d at the funeral, but invited other attendees to make a donation in Tyler\u2019s memory to one of two charities at which she was a patron: Noah\u2019s Ark Children\u2019s Hospital for Wales and Cerebral Palsy Cymru. <\/p>\n

Tyler died unexpectedly on July 9, 2026<\/a>, aged 75. The news of her death crashed her official website with it receiving \u201ctoo many requests\u201d. <\/p>\n

\u201cBonnie\u2019s family and team are heartbroken to announce that Bonnie unexpectedly passed away last night in hospital in Portugal as a result of the illness that she was being treated for,\u201d a message on her website and Facebook page told fans.<\/p>\n

The news of Tyler\u2019s death came following emergency intestinal surgery in May that had left her in a medically induced coma<\/a>. She woke from the coma<\/a> in June, but friends said she remained \u201cseriously ill\u201d.<\/p>\n

Her health began to deteriorate in April. Not long after arriving at her second home in Portugal, Tyler began experiencing \u201cintense abdominal pain\u201d and was rushed to hospital<\/a> with a tear in her bowel, requiring emergency surgery.<\/p>\n

Portugese media reported that doctors had tried to wake Tyler from her coma weeks earlier, however she went into cardiac arrest.\u00a0Gareth Cattermole\/Getty Images<\/p>\n

While it\u2019s not known exactly what health condition Tyler had been battling, she had reportedly undergone \u201cinconclusive tests in London\u201d, according to\u00a0The Sun.<\/p>\n
