Former Real Housewives of Orange County star Jeana Keough was diagnosed with tongue cancer, her daughter, Kara, revealed.<\/p>\n
\u201cA few months ago, while visiting Shane and me in Florida, my mum mentioned a painful spot on her tongue,\u201d Kara, 37, wrote via a GoFundMe dedicated to paying for the TV personality\u2019s treatment.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe assumed a tooth had been rubbing against it and had even gone to the dentist multiple times to have the tooth filed down.\u201d<\/p>\n
When Kara asked Keough, 70, how long the sore had been on her tongue, the latter \u201cpaused, thought about it, and realised it had been nearly a year.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cA biopsy confirmed our worst fear: squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue,\u201d she wrote, explaining that the reality star has since undergone two surgeries, one to remove the cancer and another to \u201cremove lymph nodes.\u201d<\/p>\n
However, after the second surgery, doctors noticed that the cancer had spread.<\/p>\n

She is exhausted, struggling to stay awake, and becoming malnourished because the pain in her tongue and throat makes swallowing even the smallest bites or sips incredibly difficult. Every day is a battle just to get enough nutrition and hydration to continue treatment.\u201d<\/p>\n Kara explained the Bravo alum has been unable to work her commission-based job and has lost a massive amount of income.<\/p>\n Additionally, Kara explained that she and her partner, Kyle Bosworth, feel helpless, being unable to assist Keough, as they live across the country with three young children.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019ve often wished we could simply be there to help with the everyday things that become overwhelming during cancer treatment,\u201d she continued, sharing that she is currently visiting Keough in Orange County and is \u201cseeing first-hand what she\u2019s facing.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI realise even more how much support she needs \u2014 not just while I\u2019m here, but after I return home,\u201d Kara wrote. \u201cMy brothers [Shane and Colton] and I want to help make sure Mum feels cared for, loved, and supported throughout this fight.\u201d<\/p>\n Kara told readers that the funds would go towards the former star’s\u2019s \u201cexpenses, everyday living costs, nutrition, and the additional support she needs while undergoing treatment.\u201d<\/p>\n As of this publication, $US4,700 out of a $US22,000 goal had been raised.<\/p>\n Keough was an original member of the RHOC cast and stayed on the series for five seasons, spanning from 2006 to 2010.<\/p>\n
