\u201cTim Tszyu ain\u2019t going nowhere, bro. He\u2019s a real fighter. And the last thing to leave is somebody\u2019s punching power.<\/p>\n
\u201cEven in the Fundora fight, Tim Tszyu fought. In that second fight he was landing.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo he\u2019s going to get his [punches] off. We just don\u2019t know if he can receive the power or has the punch resistance that he used to have \u2026\u201d<\/p>\n
And as for Spence?<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ll also see how sharp Errol is going to be after three years off,\u201d Tarver continued. \u201cWill it take four, five rounds for him to get in his rhythm?<\/p>\n
\u201cBecause he\u2019s going to need his rhythm in this fight. And behind a real controlling jab. He\u2019s going to have to control Tim Tszyu right there in front of him.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s going to have to keep that jab in his face. His activity is going to be important.<\/p>\n
\u201cIs he throwing combination punches? Or is he in there loading up with one shot? Is he tapped in with his quick twitch muscles? Is he coming off just the counter shots? Is he defensive minded?<\/p>\n
\u201cWe know he goes good to the body. That\u2019s something he will be able to do every time he steps in the ring. But can he make these guys miss? Can he give these guys angles? Can he use that footwork?<\/p>\n
\u201cThat remains to be seen. Errol Spence ain\u2019t no spring chicken. We\u2019re talking about a guy who is 36. And fighting a guy who is 31. Father Time is undefeated.\u201d<\/p>\n
Elsewhere, Tarver also questioned how much Spence has left.<\/p>\n
\u201cErrol Spence, the last time we saw him in the ring was against Terence Crawford,\u201d the now boxing commentator said of what eventually proved a lopsided beating. \u201cSo that\u2019s all we have to go on.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want to think Errol Spence is at his complete best. That he\u2019s had a tremendous training camp. But from everyone on the outside looking in, we don\u2019t know.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll we\u2019ve seen is a little bit of heavy bag work that he\u2019s done. Haven\u2019t seen no real sparring. So everything remains to be seen.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tarver also questioned Spence requesting Sunday\u2019s fight to be at middleweight.<\/p>\n
\u201cErrol has never fought this heavy before,\u201d he said. \u201cWe know he gets a bit heavy [outside of fights], but as far as competing, moving around in that ring and really carrying that weight?<\/p>\n
\u201cWith everything I know about boxing, I wouldn\u2019t have been mad with him taking a tune. Someone to give him some rounds and knock the ring rust off.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut guys don\u2019t do that. They\u2019d rather get the big bucks and roll the dice.\u201d<\/p>\n
Elsewhere, Hall of Fame trainer Russ Anber has also explained why the fighter dubbed \u2018Phoenix\u2019 was right to leave his most recent coach, Cuba\u2019s Pedro Diaz, declaring: \u201cI knew that wasn\u2019t going to work\u201d.<\/p>\n
Anber has told The Punch Podcast that Tszyu was right to switch up camps after winning twice with Diaz, who was based in Miami, Florida.<\/p>\n
The Canadian is currently in Australia himself, assisting Cherneka Johnson as she readies to defend her undisputed world champion status against Dina Thorslund on August 9.<\/p>\n
Asked his thoughts on Tszyu partnering up for this camp with Australian boxing great Jeff Fench, Anber said: \u201cI\u2019d like to speak more about Jeff but I don\u2019t know what he\u2019s like as a trainer.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo I\u2019d just be talking out of my ass really if I made any type of assumption. You want to talk about Jeff Fenech as a fighter? We can talk about how great he is. Arguably the greatest Australian fighter ever. Fantastic fighter.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut Pedro, I know very well. And I knew that wasn\u2019t going to work with Tim \u2026\u201d<\/p>\n
And why?<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s for another podcast, brother,\u201d he grinned. \u201cIt\u2019s about knowing Pedro.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m the one who brought him into the north American pro scene. I know what he is like, know what his character is like. And I just thought that wasn\u2019t going to gel.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are certain guys Pedro can work with, no doubt about it. Certain character profiles. I just had a feeling he and Tim, I couldn\u2019t see that blend working.\u201d<\/p>\n
So as for a prediction?<\/p>\n
\u201cListen, sometimes when you have fights and the beauty lies with not knowing who is going to win \u2014 I think it\u2019s a great thing,\u201d he said. \u201cThere are a lot of questions that people want answered [about Tszyu-Spence]. And they will get answered in the ring.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhere is Tim Tszyu now? How will he propel himself back onto the world stage after fighting for world titles in back-to-back fights?<\/p>\n
\u201cErrol Spence was highly regarded going into the Crawford fight. And now you see what Crawford did \u2026 so there\u2019s a lot of questions that have to be answered by both camps.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd when you have those types of questions it makes for interesting fights. And that\u2019s what boxing needs to be about — interesting fights. See who is going to overcome.
