Australians have been urged to reconsider whether they need to travel to even more nations as tensions in the Middle East persist.

The government has updated its travel advice for Jordan, Oman and Saudi Arabia, with officials describing the conflict as “volatile”.

All three nations have seen their advice level upgraded to level three, which urges people to reconsider whether they need to travel.

The warning, issued on the Smartraveller website, advises Aussies to “avoid non-essential travel” and to “stay as short a time as possible” if in transit.

The three nations join Bahrain, Israel, Kuwait, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates on level three warnings, as officials continue to respond to the developing conflict in the Middle East.

Meanwhile, six nations continue to be on the highest warning level, which advises Aussies not to travel at all.

These are Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Palestine, Syria and Yemen.
