It\u2019s not easy to make Helmut Marko impressed \u2014 just ask the wasteland of drivers that sit behind the 82-year-old. <\/p>\n
But sitting firmly among the tiny portion of drivers that Marko does rate is Oscar Piastri, who earned a stunning endorsement from the Red Bull racing adviser this week.<\/p>\n
Piastri is narrowly leading the drivers championship over McLaren teammate Lando Norris with one of the two drivers all but certain to be crowed at the end of the season. <\/p>\n
Speaking to F1-Insider, Marko weighed in on the title battle with a favourable nod to Piastri.<\/p>\n
\u201cPiastri has the nerve, is more consistent, and always gets the best out of himself. I\u2019ve never seen him so emotionally charged,\u201d Marko told the publication. <\/p>\n
\u201cNorris may be faster per lap, but overall I see Piastri ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n

Piastri sits on a streak of 40-consecutive finishes in the points, which is the fourth-longest run in F1 history, while he has built a reputation for being quick, consistent, and firm but fair in racing duels. <\/p>\n
By comparison, Norris is seen by many as having slightly more raw speed, but he continues to face questions around his volatility, and conservatism in wheel-to-wheel battles. <\/p>\n
As such, Piastri could well be Australia\u2019s first world champion since Alan Jones in 1980, while his stocks in the driver market continue to soar.<\/p>\n
Piastri is locked in at McLaren through 2028, but Marko\u2019s praise will suggest some level of interest at Red Bull, which has long failed to produce Max Verstappen with a top-tier team mate.<\/p>\n
\u201cPiastri has had an incredible career and is improving year after year,\u201d Marko added.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe had some major fluctuations last year, depending on the track. That\u2019s no longer the case.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe still has a long way to go.
