Next year could see the introduction of the largest ever iPhone<\/a> screen, according to a leaker with a decent track record.<\/p>\n Supply chain sources indicate Apple<\/a> is trialing a new display, which may be destined for a new iPhone whose name remains a mystery for now \u2026 <\/p>\n The naming mystery of next year\u2019s flagship iPhone<\/p>\n 2027 will be the 20th anniversary of the iPhone, and it\u2019s long been believed that Apple has something special in the works. This is expected to be the year in which the company gets extremely close to the long-term vision of the iPhone design as \u201ca single slab of glass<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n It\u2019s been suggested that Apple might produce a special standalone 20th anniversary iPhone<\/a>, much along the lines of the iPhone X. More recent reports instead indicate that the radical new design will simply be presented as next year\u2019s Pro models, aka the iPhone 19 Pro<\/a> and Pro Max.<\/p>\n A third possibility is that Apple would give a nod to the anniversary by jumping straight from the iPhone 18 to the iPhone 20<\/a>.<\/p>\n Largest ever iPhone display<\/p>\n Leaker Digital Chat Station<\/a> (DCS) says that supply chain sources indicate Apple is currently testing its largest ever iPhone screen. However, the jump in size is a relatively small one over the existing iPhone 17 Pro Max with its 6.9-inch diagonal.<\/p>\n An exclusive and forward-looking information shows that Apple is proofing a super-large screen with a physical size of 6.96 inches and a standard size of 7 inches.<\/p>\n In other words, their belief is that Apple would market it as a 7-inch screen.<\/p>\n DCS doesn\u2019t have any information about the intended purpose of the new display, if indeed Apple progresses it, but speculates that it may be for next year\u2019s iPhone Pro Max \u2013 however that model may end up being branded.<\/p>\n Is it possible this is for the iPhone 20 Pro Max? To be further determined<\/p>\n 9to5Mac\u2019s Take<\/p>\n Apple tests a lot of different things, most of which never make it to market, so even if it\u2019s true that this display exists within the company\u2019s supply chain as a prototype, that doesn\u2019t mean it\u2019s necessarily destined for an iPhone.<\/p>\n All the same, if the company\u2019s goal is that single slab of glass look, then being able to describe it as the largest ever display does seem a plausible part of the mix.<\/p>\n
