{"id":814813,"date":"2026-07-21T17:39:19","date_gmt":"2026-07-21T17:39:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/814813\/"},"modified":"2026-07-21T17:39:19","modified_gmt":"2026-07-21T17:39:19","slug":"tom-pelissero-among-growing-list-of-talent-in-espn-layoffs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/814813\/","title":{"rendered":"Tom Pelissero among growing list of talent in ESPN layoffs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero, who was expected to come over after the network was bought by ESPN, is expected to be among those being <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/07\/20\/sports\/ryan-clark-learned-of-his-espn-layoff-during-nfl-live-appearance-in-awkward-moment\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">laid off by ESPN<\/a>, according to multiple reports.<\/p>\n<p>Pelissero, who is best known for breaking news on X and on television with Ian Rapoport on their \u201cThe Insiders\u201d show, was thought to be staying at ESPN when the Worldwide Leader purchased NFL Network in exchange for a 10 percent equity stake in the company. He had a year left on his contract, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcsports.com\/nfl\/profootballtalk\/rumor-mill\/news\/tom-pelissero-had-a-year-left-on-his-nfln-deal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">according to ProFootballTalk<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>ESPN spent the last six months sorting out who would be staying and whether others would be sent packing.<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.49926794;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"40046071\" width=\"885\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/tom-pellissero.jpg\" alt=\"A man in a blue pinstripe suit and pink tie standing on a football field.\" class=\"wp-image-40046071\"  \/>Tom Pelissero is expected to be let go from ESPN despite the merger of NFL Network.  Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Mike Garafolo, who was also a co-host of \u201cThe Insiders,\u201d was retained by ESPN and given a <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/sportsrapport\/status\/2072718135531126882\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">contract extension<\/a>, the company previously announced.<\/p>\n<p>The same cannot be said for NFL Network analyst Charles Davis, who is also expected to be laid by ESPN on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>ESPN is also expected to let go of injury expert Stephania Bell and longtime \u201cSportsCenter\u201d anchor David Lloyd, according to multiple reports.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a bloodbath for ESPN\u2019s employees, with ESPN President Jimmy Pitaro sending a memo to the company about why this is all happening.<\/p>\n<p>Disney, ESPN\u2019s parent company, is expected to conduct a round of layoffs as well. <\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:0.68066406;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"40046109\" width=\"402\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/stephania-bell.jpg\" alt=\"A woman with shoulder-length blonde hair and a black dress poses in front of a black wall with &quot;HEROES at THE ESPYS&quot; logos.\" class=\"wp-image-40046109\"  \/>Stephania Bell, an injury expert, is also expected to be laid off by ESPN.
