Courtney Stodden has called out Seinfeld star Jason Alexander for what she has claimed was an \u201cimpossible to understand\u201d act towards her as part of a comedy skit when she was a minor. <\/p>\n
During the skit, Alexander used a mobile phone to rub the breast of Stodden, who was 17 at the time. <\/p>\n
Alexander does not appear to have commented.<\/p>\n
The American media personality, actor and model raised the claim on Instagram as she reflected on her experience in Hollywood when she was a teenage bride to actor Doug Hutchison, who was 51 years old at the time.<\/p>\n
Stodden, now 31, said she and Hutchison appeared in a 2012 Funny or Die sketch centred on the fictitious The Donny Clay Show where Alexander played the role of sleazy host Clay.<\/p>\n
In her post, Stodden shared a photo of her teenage self wearing a bikini while Alexander \u2013 as Clay \u2013 interviewed her and Hutchison.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was 17 years old in this photo\u201d, she said in her lengthy post. Alexander was 52 at the time.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe older I get, the more impossible this is to understand. During this comedy sketch, Jason Alexander repeatedly rubbed his phone across my breasts while saying there was \u2018no signal\u2019 in my head but \u2018plenty of signal\u2019 in my chest.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cLater in the sketch, he joked that when I turned 18 he\u2019d like to take me behind the couch and \u2018have his way\u2019 with me.\u201d<\/p>\n
Stodden added that Alexander, now 66, was credited as one of the writers of the episode, on entertainment database website IMDb.<\/p>\n
Now six years divorced from Hutchinson, Stodden said that it has \u201cbecome harder \u2013 not easier \u2013 for me to understand\u201d why she \u2013 as an underage teen \u2013 was featured om the sketch. <\/p>\n
\u201cI didn\u2019t have the legal power to decide whether I wanted to participate. The contracts were signed by adults. The paycheck went to Doug. The production moved forward. I was the only child in the room. I felt so alone,\u201d she recalled. <\/p>\n
\u201cLooking back now, I don\u2019t see comedy. I see a 17-year-old girl whose body became part of an adult joke. People still say, \u2018You chose to be there.\u2019 Legally, I couldn\u2019t make those decisions for myself. That\u2019s the point.\u201d<\/p>\n
Stodden said that while she can\u2019t change what happened, she wanted to speak out.<\/p>\n
\u201cI can\u2019t change what happened to me but I can ask myself: How did so many adults look at a minor and decide this was acceptable? That\u2019s exactly why I speak out today,\u201d she shared. \u201cChildren deserve laws that protect them. They shouldn\u2019t have to become adults before realising the law should have protected them all along.\u201d<\/p>\n
Like Stodden, many on social media did not find the skit funny.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s very disturbing that they not only wrote this sketch, but allowed it to air,\u201d one commented on Stodden\u2019s Instagram post.<\/p>\n
\u201cI remember believing your age, but the media was acting like you were lowering it as a publicity stunt. Very weird of them,\u201d another wrote.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m just sorry that all happened to you. You didn\u2019t deserve it. You deserved decency and protection from the adults around you,\u201d one noted.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s so gross to look back at these things that we just accepted as normal behaviour. You were a child and the way you were treated is just disgusting,\u201d yet another commented. <\/p>\n
Stodden\u2019s divorced Hutchinson in 2000, nine years after they tied the knot in Las Vegas. He was 51 at the time and she was just 16. The 35-year age gap sparked worldwide controversy, still her mum and former manager Krista Keller gave consent for her to marry The Green Mile actor. <\/p>\n
The day their divorce was finalised, Stodden spoke out about their marriage on Instagram, slamming her ex-husband for taking advantage of her in her youth.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve been scared to even speak up \u2026 during the almost 10-year marriage, because I was a child and he was 50 (sic) when we married,\u201d Stodden wrote at the time. \u201cBut I\u2019m a woman now and it\u2019s time for me to put my big girl pants on and speak on this matter.\u201d<\/p>\n
The reality star went on to say she \u201cfelt completely trapped, manipulated and at times abandoned by adults\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cGrowing up in such an environment, became a lonely and dark place,\u201d she shared before addressing Hutchison directly in her post. \u201cI\u2019ll always love you; yet I\u2019ll always be angry. You\u2019ve left me \u2013 a child woman, feeling belittled and confused\u201d.<\/p>\n
In May this year, to mark what would have been their 15th wedding anniversary, Stodden opened up about how her past and being a \u201cchild bride\u201d caused her \u201cadult trauma\u201d. <\/p>\n
\u201c15 years ago today, a 16 year old girl was married off to a man 35 years older than her and the world treated her like the scandal instead of the victim,\u201d she wrote alongside a photo from their wedding day with her groom\u2019s face scratched out. <\/p>\n
\u201cI was a virgin. Emotionally still a child. And too young to understand what was about to happen to me behind closed doors for years. Just because a child says \u2018I do\u2019 does not mean she understands consent.\u201d<\/p>\n
Stodden then revealed she was \u201cdownsizing my breasts\u201d to reclaim her body so that she feels \u201clike it belongs to me instead of the public that consumed it before I even became a
