AFL legend Tony Modra has shared a heartwarming update on his road to recovery from his near fatal truck crash.<\/p>\n

The former Adelaide Crows star was left in a critical condition last month when a tree branch came crashing through the windscreen of his truck near Victor Harbor.<\/p>\n

Many feared the two-time all-Australian AFL star may not pull through after he suffered catastrophic injuries in the crash, ending up in intensive care.<\/p>\n

However, in an update AFL fans nationwide would have been desperate for, the 57-year-old shared a photograph of him looking healthy and well alongside his family.<\/p>\n

In a touching Instagram post, Modra described his gratitude for the care he received and the many well wishes along the way.<\/p>\n

The footy star heaped praise on SA Ambulance Service, South Coast District Hospital and Flinders Medical Centre.<\/p>\n

\u201cSaved my life, put me back together with a few titanium plates, got me home,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m getting out and about a bit now, and slowly catching up on everything I missed over the last month.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m so humbled to learn how many people were cheering these incredible medical teams on \u2026 and our family too.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll never be able to thank everyone enough.\u201d<\/p>\n

The shocking incident happened on June 18, during a spell of severe weather.<\/p>\n

Described as a \u201cfreak accident\u201d it saw Modra\u2019s truck impaled by a fallen tree branch.
He left hospital earlier this month, after undergoing facial surgery. <\/p>\n

In his illustrious career, he made 118 appearances for the Crows and 47 for Freemantle.<\/p>\n

He was Adelaide\u2019s leading goal-kicker for five straight seasons and played State of Origin football. <\/p>\n
