Rosie O\u2019Donnell claimed late director Penny Marshall urged her to \u201close 20 pounds\u201d on the set of A League of Their Own.<\/p>\n
The former talk show host made the revelation while discussing how her recent 27kg (60 pounds) weight loss has changed her life.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s very strange to just buy a pair of jeans that fit. When I would do late-night, my biggest concern wasn\u2019t my set \u2014 it was, did I look fat?\u201d she told People<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cOn League of Their Own, Penny Marshall didn\u2019t help by saying, \u2018Rosie, I want you to lose 20 pounds.\u2019 I\u2019m like, \u2018You think I carry it around for fun, Penny?\u2019 \u201d O\u2019Donnell, 64, recalled.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen I look back, I go, \u2018God, I wish I could have enjoyed the size I was.\u2019 \u201d<\/p>\n The former View host \u2014 who began taking Mounjaro to treat her Type 2 diabetes in 2023 \u2014 said she feels \u201cmuch healthier, more powerful in my own physicality,\u201d despite being \u201cthe same weight\u201d as she was during the movie.<\/p>\n Stream A League of Their Own on BINGE<\/a>, available on Hubbl<\/a>.<\/p>\n In January, O\u2019Donnell shared her experience filming the cult classic under Marshall, whom the Flinstones actress called a \u201cwoman\u2019s sports freak\u201d and \u201cfeminist.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI think she didn\u2019t like to think of herself as a feminist. She was older than me, and I don\u2019t know that she wasn\u2019t an ardent feminist like me,\u201d O\u2019Donnell said on the We Can Do Hard Things podcast.<\/p>\n \u201cShe was kind of a closeted feminist in some ways.
