Laurie Daley has backed rugby league legend Andrew Johns for the Blues\u2019 head coaching role if the eighth immortal ever wanted the job.<\/p>\n

Daley is expected to stand down as Blues coach following a two-year stint at the helm, culminating in a famous decider win at Suncorp Stadium a fortnight ago.<\/p>\n

Speaking on Freddy and the Eighth, Daley said he\u2019ll reveal what his future holds in the coming weeks.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think I just wanna let it all settle in and settle down and let the players enjoy what they\u2019ve been able to achieve,\u201d Daley said.<\/p>\n

\u201cA decision will come in the coming weeks, but I\u2019m certainly happy with the decision I\u2019ve made and what happens next.\u201d<\/p>\n

Johns has been loosely linked to the Blues job alongside his brother Matt, but Johns has so far shut down any speculation.<\/p>\n

\u201cI haven\u2019t got the personality to do it and I\u2019ve got no experience,\u201d Johns said.<\/p>\n

Daley disagreed though. <\/p>\n

The Blues legend and two-time series winning NSW coach has faith that Johns would have success if he ever held the top job, with Daley pointing to Johns\u2019 passion of the game and the jersey.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe one thing I love about Joey is he\u2019s passionate,\u201d Daley said. <\/p>\n

\u201cEven throughout the series we would speak and he\u2019d send me clips and when you\u2019ve got someone like Andrew Johns showing you stuff, you take it on board.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019d be able to do it easily if you had the right people around you.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think there\u2019s a lot of people out there who could do it, but a lot of people don\u2019t understand the scrutiny that comes with a position like that.\u201d<\/p>\n

DOGS STAR DEFENDS HIMSELF AFTER ONLINE VITRIOL<\/p>\n

Bulldogs forward Jaeman Salmon has defended himself following his run-in with Tigers star Alex Twal on Saturday night.<\/p>\n

Twal was sin binned for an open handed shove to Salmon\u2019s face late in the second half of the Tigers\u2019 32-0 loss to the Bulldogs.<\/p>\n

Salmon and Twal went toe-to-toe after Salmon rushed in and shoved Twal following an incident between the Tigers lock and Bulldogs forward Lipoi Hopoi.<\/p>\n

Salmon has been accused of riling Twal and other Tigers players up throughout the game, but he denied this, revealing to the SMH<\/a> he has since copped abusive messages from Tigers fans on social media.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think I\u2019m known for being a niggler or a grub. If anyone ever mentions my name, \u2018grub\u2019 or \u2018niggler\u2019 never gets associated with it. All of a sudden, I\u2019m a grub and niggler after this one altercation,\u201d Salmon said.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can\u2019t win in this situation. If I fire back, I get sin-binned, and if I milk it, I\u2019m a coward. You\u2019re damned if you do and damned if you don\u2019t.<\/p>\n

\u201cTensions were high. I\u2019m a competitor, and Twally is a competitor. <\/p>\n

\u201cAll I\u2019ve heard about Twally is he\u2019s a great lad.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s blown up a bit, it\u2019s crazy… They\u2019re passionate fans. Nobody likes seeing their team beaten. There are too many explicit words for me to say in the paper.\u201d<\/p>\n
