Join now and get your first month for just $1.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img class=\"i-amphtml-fill-content i-amphtml-replaced-content\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/poster-fallback.png\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Heat Nation also reported that the video\u2019s description read: \u201cPress conference for LeBron James welcoming him back as a member of the Miami HEAT\u201d, along with several Heat and NBA-related hashtags.<\/p>\n<p>While the apparent leak has not been verified by any major news outlet, it comes as momentum continues to build around a potential return to South Beach for the four-time NBA champion.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this week, ESPN analysts Kendrick Perkins and Chiney Ogwumike both revealed they had heard Miami had moved ahead of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors and Philadelphia 76ers as the frontrunner to land James during conversations at Fanatics Fest.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI heard that Miami is at the top of the list,\u201d Perkins said on ESPN\u2019s NBA Today.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2026. If Miami wants some real motion, Giannis already done his press conference so he\u2019s there. He has to pick up the damn phone. That\u2019s what LeBron James wants.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ogwumike said she had heard similar chatter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m saying Miami,\u201d Ogwumike said. \u201cAmong conversations, [it] came up like, \u2018Oh, don\u2019t sleep on them.\u2018\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The former WNBA star believes Miami offers James the ideal basketball situation, allowing him to take on primary ball-handling and playmaking responsibilities alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo.<\/p>\n<p>Snubbed by the Boomers, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxsports.com.au\/basketball\/snubbed-by-the-boomers-aussie-star-lands-4m-move-to-join-nba-powerhouse\/news-story\/6997338b8212010ccc6cff25aeaf161a\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Aussie star lands $4m move to join NBA powerhouse<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen you look at the basketball of it all, he has probably the greatest opportunity to make an impact if he\u2019s playing the one, the two or three where he normally feasts,\u201d Ogwumike stressed.<\/p>\n<p>The speculation gained further traction after James\u2019 agent, Rich Paul, offered fresh insight into the superstar\u2019s prolonged free agency.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking with Perkins, Paul dismissed the idea that money is the deciding factor in James\u2019 next move.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not about the money,\u201d Perkins said Paul told him. \u201cIt\u2019s about the fit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Paul also indicated that James has not asked any of the teams pursuing him to alter their rosters in an effort to improve their chances.<\/p>\n<p>ESPN\u2019s Dave McMenamin later contacted Paul for an update before Tuesday\u2019s edition of NBA Today.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNothing happening today,\u201d Paul told McMenamin.<\/p>\n<p>That means James\u2019 decision will stretch into at least a 22nd day, although McMenamin reported that Miami and the other interested teams remain patient and have not backed away from the pursuit.<\/p>\n<p>Financially, the Heat are in a stronger position than several of James\u2019 other reported suitors.<\/p>\n<p>According to<a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/story\/_\/id\/49301354\/lebron-james-2026-free-agency-market-offers-contract-money-team\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\"> ESPN front office analyst Bobby Marks<\/a>, Miami sits approximately $10.5 million ($14.9 million AUD) below the first-apron hard cap and could offer James a contract worth around $7 million while still retaining enough flexibility to sign a 14th player.<\/p>\n<p>Lost in translation? <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxsports.com.au\/basketball\/basketball-2026-aussie-wnba-coach-sandy-brondello-suspended-for-calling-angel-reese-a-protected-species-latest-news\/news-story\/d9959e9ac5b5ad714609aab202638e92\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Aussie coach BANNED for using innocent phrase about polarising US star<\/a><\/p>\n<p>By comparison, the Philadelphia 76ers, Minnesota Timberwolves and Golden State Warriors are currently limited to the $3.9 million ($5.5 million AUD) veteran exception, while Cleveland\u2019s flexibility could depend on the structure of James Harden\u2019s next contract.<\/p>\n<p>However, Paul\u2019s comments suggest those financial differences are unlikely to determine where James signs.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, the decision appears to revolve around basketball fit, family and lifestyle.<\/p>\n<p>Of all James\u2019 reported destinations, Miami arguably provides the clearest path back to being a primary offensive initiator.<\/p>\n<p>His playmaking responsibilities diminished after Luka Don\u010di\u0107 arrived in Los Angeles, while several other contenders already feature dominant ballhandlers, including Tyrese Maxey in Philadelphia, Stephen Curry in Golden State, Anthony Edwards in Minnesota and Donovan Mitchell in Cleveland.<\/p>\n<p>FILE &#8211; Miami Heat&#8217;s LeBron James (6) gestures after a play against the San Antonio Spurs during the first half in Game 7 of the NBA basketball finals, Thursday, June 20, 2013, in Miami.
