The veteran has been a key component of the silly season over the past year as both Team 18 and General Motors look to shore up their respective futures.<\/p>\n

Reynolds was signed to a single-year extension with the squad for 2026, while his future beyond this season was then muddied by Team 18\u2019s pursuit of current Grove Racing driver Matt Payne<\/a>.<\/p>\n

With Payne locked in at Groves until at least the end of next season<\/a>, Reynolds is expected to continue in the #20 Snowy River Caravans Camaro in a full-time capacity in 2027.<\/p>\n

That would make sense if Team 18 does intend on signing Payne for 2028, with the sponsor-friendly and highly-experienced Reynolds the logical option over blooding a new driver for a single season.<\/p>\n

However, an extension is yet to be formally or informally confirmed, Reynolds admitting that he remains unsure of what his future holds.<\/p>\n

For now he says his focus is on finding consistent speed, particularly off the back of a tough and frustrating Townsville weekend<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo be honest, I don\u2019t know,\u201d he said when asked by Speedcafe about next season.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m just trying to put my head down and make my car the best I can so I can be the front.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you\u2019re at the front, everyone thinks you\u2019re awesome. And when you\u2019re at the back, everyone thinks you\u2019re a loser.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m kind of stuck in the middle somewhere.\u201d<\/p>\n

As it stands there is not expected to be too much movement in the paddock over the off-season, with the key question marks hanging over Declan Fraser at PremiAir Racing, Cooper Murray at Erebus Motorsport and Reynolds.<\/p>\n

Team 18 boss Adrian Burgess was also quizzed on Reynolds\u2019 status during the Townsville weekend, declining to comment apart from a light-hearted suggestion that the team might approach Max Verstappen if he remains unhappy with F1\u2019s new regulations.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think there\u2019s been enough said the last few weeks on this topic,\u201d said Burgess.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere isn\u2019t really much more to add.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is a Dutchman that may be coming available overseas that would be quite interesting. So maybe we\u2019ll stick our hand up for him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Reynolds currently sits 15th in the standings, 11 places behind teammate Anton De Pasquale.<\/p>\n

There have been some solid showings from the oldest driver on the grid, though, including a podium finish in Tasmania.<\/p>\n

Still, his lowly points position means his only realistic shot of making Finals is by winning the Enduro Cup, where he\u2019ll team up with James Courtney for The Bend and the Bathurst 1000.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"David Reynolds remains in the dark over his Supercars future.
