Meet Stephen \u201cCool Boy\u201d Fulton, the hard-hitting scrapper from the mean boxing gyms and even meaner streets of Philadelphia.<\/p>\n
After escaping a life of crime, drugs and gunshots, the former two-weight world champion fights on the Tim Tszyu-Errol Spence undercard, where he promises to shatter Aussie hero Liam Wilson\u2019s hopes of fighting for another world title. <\/p>\n
Speaking to Code Sports on Wednesday morning, Fulton, 32, just laughs when asked about his clothing collection that is rumoured to be worth a tidy seven figure sum. <\/p>\n
\u201cI have a lot of clothes,\u201d he says in the understatement of the century.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have so many items, bags, clothes, everything. <\/p>\n
\u201cI have sneakers that are (US) $5000 a piece.<\/p>\n
\u201cI can\u2019t even wear everything. I have clothes that are still in bags with tags. <\/p>\n
\u201cI buy things and it will sit for a year before I think what to do with it, but they all come in handy.\u201d <\/p>\n
Fulton can\u2019t even narrow it down when asked what his favourite pair of shoes is. <\/p>\n
\u201cI have too many, man, I can\u2019t name just one,\u201d he says. \u201cI can\u2019t even say how many pairs I have.\u201d<\/p>\n
Over 100? <\/p>\n
He laughs again. <\/p>\n
\u201cEasily.\u201d<\/p>\n
Behind the designer brands and boxes of unworn sneakers, though, is a super-skilful fighter who has already conquered the boxing world. <\/p>\n
He has had two world title stints at super-bantamweight and featherweight, and has been in the ring with the likes of Naoya Inoue and Brandon Figueroa.<\/p>\n
Fulton was fighting long before the fame and fortune from boxing though. <\/p>\n
Growing up in Philadelphia, some of Fulton\u2019s friends sold drugs and others were gunned down on the streets. <\/p>\n
His dad kept him off the corners and put him into the boxing gym, and he tells Code that those experiences turned him into the fighter he is today. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt had its ups and downs and roughness,\u201d he says of his childhood with more understatement. <\/p>\n
\u201cBut I\u2019m here, and look what I\u2019ve accomplished.<\/p>\n
\u201cEveryone has ups and downs, but what I\u2019ve learned is it\u2019s about how you view things, how you take them and accept it.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt made me the man I am today. It makes me humble and appreciate all these things. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt makes me grateful for this life.\u201d <\/p>\n
The Philadelphia fighter says he has heard of Wilson\u2019s power, but isn\u2019t concerned. <\/p>\n
He plans on derailing \u2018Mr Damage\u2019s plans for another world title run and lock in a shot at the WBA world title. <\/p>\n
\u201cLong story short, you speak about his big left hook and that he\u2019s a power puncher,\u201d he says. \u201cIn Philly, we don\u2019t give a f**k about none of that. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re gonna fight. <\/p>\n
