After an indifferent first year at the Magpies, Houston has bounced back to form including a particularly strong start to this season.<\/p>\n
But there\u2019s now a trade watch on the talented halfback just 21 months after he joined the club as a marquee recruit.<\/p>\n
According to multiple sources, Houston\u2019s future at Collingwood is unsettled, despite being contracted until 2030 on a lucrative deal worth around $850,000 annually.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s understood that Carlton and Melbourne, who were among the suitors for Houston two years ago, wouldn\u2019t pursue the dual All-Australian if he became available. <\/p>\n
Foxfooty.com.au has contacted Collingwood, who maintained Houston is contracted for another four seasons, as well as the defender\u2019s management.<\/p>\n

Houston, 29, joined Collingwood on a six-year deal at the end of the 2024 campaign, after he was granted his wish of being traded back to Victoria following eight years at Port Adelaide.<\/p>\n
He was the headline of a three-club, five-player mega trade. It saw the Pies receive Houston and Pick 58, the Power land Jack Lukosius, Joe Richards, Rory Atkins, picks 13, 29, 36 and 50 and the Suns get John Noble, Pick 39 and two 2025 first-round picks.<\/p>\n
Connors Sports\u2019 Nick Gieschen organised Houston\u2019s new deal at Collingwood, before the halfback joined James Jarvis\u2019 start-up Mercury.<\/p>\n
Houston has played 207 AFL games since making his debut for the Power in 2017.<\/p>\n
He\u2019s averaged 22.5 disposals per game and a career-best 7.1 marks in 2026 after just 16.9 touches last year \u2014 his lowest return since 2018.<\/p>\n
It comes as the Magpies navigate a delicate list transition, with champion trio Scott Pendlebury, Steele Sidebottom and Jeremy Howe facing uncertain futures, while youngster Ed Allan is yet to receive a contract offer.<\/p>\n
