Speaking publicly for the first time on Fox Footy\u2019s AFL 360 this week since Tassie\u2019s coaching appointment, Longmire said he wasn\u2019t ready to coach again in 2027 while he remains focused on business interests in Sydney.<\/p>\n
\u201cNo I\u2019m not,\u201d he said on Wednesday night\u2019s program.<\/p>\n
\u201cI certainly explored it. I went down the path, I looked at it seriously. There\u2019s no question with that.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m really fortunate \u2013 I helped start a business up here 18 months ago that I\u2019m really jumping into and enjoying. There\u2019s plenty we\u2019ve done but plenty to do. <\/p>\n
\u201cSome great potential in that, some great growth. Really looking forward to that with some people here at the Sydney Swans. <\/p>\n
\u201cAnd I\u2019m going to do a bit of travel, I haven\u2019t done any travel yet. Looking forward to that and watching my kids play sport.\u201d<\/p>\n
Asked specifically if that took him out of the Carlton and Essendon searches, Longmire said: \u201cYes.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ll be staying here in Sydney, and focused on the business we\u2019re building here that\u2019s going really well and has great potential. So, I\u2019m looking forward to that.\u201d<\/p>\n
Longmire is the Swans executive director of club performance after he stepped down as coach at the end of 2024.<\/p>\n
The 53-year old, who coached Sydney to five grand finals, spoke with Tasmania in recent weeks but thinks Hinkley will \u201cdo a great job\u201d for the club.<\/p>\n
Reflecting on the Devils process, Longmire said it helped materialise his thoughts on where he\u2019s at.<\/p>\n
\u201cLooking back on it, I was probably asking more questions about them than they were asking about me,\u201d Longmire said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think that told me more than anything, I guess, on where I sat.<\/p>\n
\u201cFrom that perspective, I said at the very start of this, a few weeks ago now, that these things becoming clearer over time.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think that certainly happened with me.
