Arsenal have continued their rebuild of the squad by signing the Spain goalkeeper Misa Rodr\u00edguez on a free transfer. The 27-year-old arrives after spending the last six years at Real Madrid.<\/p>\n
The WSL side have already added Georgia Stanway<\/a> (Bayern Munich), Selina Cerci<\/a> (Hoffenheim), Ona Batlle<\/a> (Barcelona) and G\u00e9raldine Reuteler (Eintracht Frankfurt) as they aim to challenge for the league title. Last season they finished second, four points behind the champions, Manchester City.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m so proud to join this great club,\u201d said Rodr\u00edguez. \u201cArsenal is one of the top clubs in the world and I\u2019m really excited to be part of the team and take on this new challenge. I want to help us compete for trophies and make more history, together with our supporters.\u201d<\/p>\n Rodr\u00edguez has twice been awarded the Zamora Trophy for having the lowest goals-per-game ratio in the league and was made the Real Madrid captain in 2025.<\/p>\n Born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in July 1999, Rodr\u00edguez developed at youth level with CD Femarguin before joining Atletico Madrid in 2017. A move to Deportivo La Coru\u00f1a followed before the 2019-20 season, during which she established herself as one of Spain\u2019s most promising young goalkeepers, helping Deportivo to a fourth-place finish in their first top-flight campaign.<\/p>\n The Arsenal head coach, Ren\u00e9e Slegers, added: \u201cMisa is a top goalkeeper who has performed consistently at a high level for several years.
