Misty Green, written and directed by Chris Rock, is in theaters this October<\/p>\n

A new trailer shows Rosalind Eleazar in the title role opposite Rock himself, as well as Adam Driver, Daniel Kaluuya and Anna Kendrick<\/p>\n

Rock last worked behind the camera on 2014’s Top Five<\/p>\n

Chris Rock<\/a> is back in writer-director-actor mode with his new movie.\u00a0<\/p>\n

A24’s Misty Green, in theaters this October, stars Missing You actress Rosalind Eleazar<\/a> as the title character, a Hollywood actress grappling with her demons. The drama is written and directed by Rock, 61, whose last film featuring him behind the camera was 2014’s Top Five.<\/p>\n

An emotional new trailer for the film shows glimpses of Misty’s tumultuous journey, as the official synopsis states, “years after her Hollywood breakthrough.” The “talented actress,” it adds, is fighting “for her second act.”<\/p>\n

“The last time I cast you, you punch this b—- in the face?” Rock can be heard recalling to Misty in the trailer. “She hit me first,” responds Eleazar, 37.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Later, sparks fly between the two when Eleazar asks Rock if he thinks she can act, or if he’s just trying to seduce her. “Why can’t both things be true?” he asks.<\/p>\n

Misty Green costars Adam Driver<\/a> as another apparent love interest of Misty’s, as well as Daniel Kaluuya<\/a> as her troubled brother. Also featured are Anna Kendrick<\/a>, Topher Grace<\/a>, Anthony Anderson<\/a>, Kelli Garner, Amy Landecker, Rich Sommer and Tracie Thoms.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The A24-distributed title will premiere at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival this coming September, followed by a theatrical release sometime the following month.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Before Top Five, which he also led opposite Rosario Dawson, Rock directed 2003’s Head of State and 2007’s I Think I Love My Wife.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In a 2014 interview with Rolling Stone<\/a>, the comedian said that writing and directing movies was “not a key ambition,” but that “arty” directors “don’t really do those movies with Black people that much. So you gotta make your own.”<\/p>\n

Misty Green is in theaters this fall.<\/p>\n
