IF Aaron Love<\/a>\u2019s Super2 comeback seems slightly out of the blue, it shouldn\u2019t.<\/p>\n

Ever since he was ready to talk following his sudden split with the Blanchard Racing Team, Love was clear that Supercars remained his top priority.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s been a gradual rebuild of his stocks between now and then, being taken under Marcos Ambrose\u2019s wing in Trans Am, and then returning to his old stomping ground in Porsche Carrera Cup with immediate success.<\/p>\n

Now comes the next step, as Love gets stuck back into Super2 on a two-round deal with Eggleston Motorsport<\/a> taking in Perth next week and Sandown in November.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt really started quite late in the piece,\u201d the 24-year-old told V8 Sleuth of how the opportunity came about.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis hasn\u2019t been going on for months; it\u2019s really only been since Darwin.<\/p>\n

\u201cI spoke to Ben (Eggleston) a fair bit over the weekend and then post-weekend about his take on a few things, and just in general \u2018what do you think is a good program to put myself in the best situation to get another opportunity and, if I do, make sure I\u2019m ready for it?\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cI guess the fundamental of it is miles in the legs, so that\u2019s kind of why we\u2019re doing the two rounds, and they\u2019re just the two rounds that don\u2019t clash (with Carrera Cup).\u201d<\/p>\n

So, the roadmap from here\u2026<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve kind of been quite clear all along when I was in it and also just afterwards too, that Supercars is where I want to be,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s where I want to make my career, that\u2019s where I want to be successful.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo it\u2019s just about all working to try to get back there, and then if I ever get that opportunity, to make sure that I\u2019m 100 percent ready for it.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt the moment we\u2019re just taking it as it comes.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhatever comes next year comes, whether that is a drive in a main game car in enduros, wildcards, full-time, or if it is Super2. I\u2019m just trying to really keep all the doors open for myself and then if one does open, just make sure that I\u2019ve done everything I can to come out swinging.\u201d<\/p>\n

Asked if his confidence was back after it had taken a hit as the BRT relationship unravelled, Love answered in the affirmative.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a pretty tricky time last year from all of that happening to even just coming back to a racetrack and getting back down to business and not getting caught up thinking about what has happened and just focusing on the here and now,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\u201cGetting some good people around me has been really good, getting some advice, but then also going racing with some really good people too.\u201d<\/p>\n

Even after a smooth test at Winton on Tuesday, Love is at a mileage deficit relative to his rivals who have two rounds under their belt this year \u2013 but he\u2019s steering clear of using that as an excuse.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can try to play the catch-up card for as long as you like, but really at the end of the day you have just got to get on with things,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cYour closest and toughest competitors are always your teammates and they\u2019re always your initial gauge.<\/p>\n

\u201cI really just want to make sure that whatever it is on the day, if the car is good enough for 10th or fifth, we maximise that. If it\u2019s good enough for a win, then that\u2019s what we\u2019re here to do.\u201d<\/p>\n

Love\u2019s last Super2 start came in a Gen2 Mustang at the 2023 Adelaide finale.<\/p>\n

He\u2019ll drive the #26 ZB Commodore at Wanneroo, July 31-August 2.<\/p>\n
