STRONG individual rounds, a British Open-themed event and several close finishes highlighted another busy week of golf at The Sands and Torquay.<\/p>\n
At The Sands, Jerry Cresp (11) claimed Monday 13 July\u2019s medley stableford with 30 points, while Sue Malcolm (22) won Tuesday\u2019s nine-hole medley stableford with 22 points.<\/p>\n
Wednesday\u2019s medley par produced tightly contested results across the grades. Jeff Crow (9) edged A-grade on countback after finishing square, while Austin Swain (11) won B-grade with +2. Trevor Westacott (30) topped C-grade at square.<\/p>\n
Thursday\u2019s women\u2019s stroke competition was won by Allison Bell (22) with a round of 77, before Friday\u2019s medley stableford delivered the best score of the week, with Justin McCarthy (20) posting 43 points to comfortably win B-grade. Luke Laretive (14) claimed A-grade with 38 points.<\/p>\n
Saturday\u2019s stroke competition featured some excellent scoring, led by Nathan King (10), whose nett 68 secured A-grade honours. Graeme Haynes (16) won B-grade on countback with 71, while Tianay Hyndman (47) led the women\u2019s stableford with 38 points.<\/p>\n
Sunday\u2019s British Open stableford saw Ryan Illingworth (21) edge Ryan Hall (11) on countback after both finished on 37 points, while Hall claimed the overall Four Majors title on countback.<\/p>\n
Torquay\u2019s week opened with veterans stableford on Monday, where Ron Watt (20) and Maureen Stuart (32) won the men\u2019s and women\u2019s divisions.<\/p>\n
Tuesday\u2019s stableford featured 40 points from Mel Jones (24) to win A-grade, while Jo Johnson (45) took B-grade with 39 points.<\/p>\n
Wednesday\u2019s par competition saw Paul Byron (10) and Wes Bumpstead (11) finish tied on +5, with Byron taking A-grade on countback. Dave Kilmartin (14) won B-grade with +3, while Paul Byron also recorded an eagle on the opening hole.<\/p>\n
Edward McCoy (12) won Thursday\u2019s men\u2019s stableford with 41 points, while Kathy Simson (14) led the women\u2019s competition with 39.<\/p>\n
Friday\u2019s stableford produced another run of strong scoring. Adam Brissenden (9) and Aaron Bradley (21) each posted 39 points to win A-grade and B-grade respectively, while Anne Staig (19) recorded 42 points to top the women\u2019s field. Eagles were recorded by Brissenden and Luke Mulder.<\/p>\n
Saturday\u2019s 4BBB par was won by David Hutchinson and Daniel Twentyman at +12, while Ron Watt (20) claimed the accompanying individual par with +3. Ronnie Beacom (19) won the women\u2019s stableford with 43 points.<\/p>\n
Sunday\u2019s stableford wrapped up the week, with David Johnson (11) winning A-grade on countback after tying on 42 points, Ryan O\u2019Keeffe (26) taking B-grade with 38, and Tracy Anscombe (42) claiming the women\u2019s competition with 41.
