Marcus Bontempelli has sold his Kew home just months after a social media post revealing he and wife Neila\u2019s baby news was filmed in the back yard.<\/p>\n
Western Bulldogs premiership player and captain Marcus Bontempelli has sold his Kew home in a multimillion-dollar deal.<\/p>\n
One of the code\u2019s most decorated active players, The Bont made his AFL debut with the Footscray-based team in 2014 and two years later played in the side\u2019s 2016 Premiership victory over Sydney, and in the same year got his first stint as a fill-in captain \u2014 the youngest player to do so since 2012. <\/p>\n
He was vice-captain by 2018, and has been the team\u2019s on field leader since 2020. <\/p>\n

Source: Instagram\/ Neila Bontempelli.<\/p>\n The backyard pool the video was shot at is surrounded by landscaped gardens.<\/p>\n The home was listed for sale from $2.6m-$2.85m.<\/p>\n He and wife Neila also own local area cafe Arthur\u2019s Milk Bar, which opened in 2025, and earlier this year announced they are expecting their first child.<\/p>\n The pair announced their baby joy in February with a social media post showing them cutting into a gender reveal cake poolside in their home\u2019s backyard. <\/p>\n They married in October last year.<\/p>\n The soon-to-be-former Bontempelli residence features a four-bedroom floorplan with a central bathroom.<\/p>\n A hallway through the middle of the home opens via double doors to the renovated rear of the house, which showcases an open-plan kitchen and family zone that opens out to a sheltered deck and landscaped backyard.<\/p>\n An open-plan kitchen and dining zone that spills out to a rear deck helped lure in two buyers.<\/p>\n The back yard had plenty of scope for a family, but the pair have sold up ahead of expanding theirs.<\/p>\n A tiled pool and spa are surrounded by stone paving is the highlight of the greenery-lined space, which also has a fire pit, mature trees and manicured garden beds.<\/p>\n Still featuring many of its classic hallmarks the California bungalow went to market with a mix of timber floors, leadlight windows and picture rails.<\/p>\n A light and bright decor throughout the house makes the most of the backyard\u2019s northwest orientation <\/p>\n The house also has a rear gate access to a right of way, in addition to off-street parking at the front of the home. <\/p>\n It is located walking distance from schools, shops, cafes parks and trams.<\/p>\n Abercrombys agent Simon Curtain handled the sale and while he could not discuss his vendor, noted that it had been a \u201creally interesting\u201d result \u2014 with limited interest early on, before a pair of buyers made offers later on. <\/p>\n The home\u2019s rear living zone is light and bright.<\/p>\n One of the home\u2019s potential bedrooms is currently serving as a lounge room.<\/p>\n Mr Curtain added that a third prospective buyer, who had not been willing to make an offer unconditionally, suggested that for the right homes there was still a depth of demand where sellers were prepared to meet the market.<\/p>\n \u201cIn the end, it felt like a normal campaign,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n \u201cAnd we were delighted to have received a couple of offers and genuine interest throughout.\u201d<\/p>\n Noting that the area\u2019s market had \u201ccome back a touch\u201d this year as buyers had begun to question if they might overpay for a home, and grappled with changes to investor tax benefits in the federal budget, but now appeared to be settling into a new rhythm. <\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s definitely a complicated time, but the demand is there and people do need to buy,\u201d Mr Curtain said.<\/p>\n Sign up to the Herald Sun Weekly Real Estate Update.
