WIZARDS HESITATE OVER $275M MAX DEAL<\/p>\n

Anthony Davis\u2019 future in Washington has been thrown into doubt, with the Wizards reportedly unwilling to offer the four-time All-NBA First Team selection the four-year, $275 million (AUD$394 million) maximum extension he is seeking.<\/p>\n

According to Brett Siegel, Washington remains keen to keep Davis long term but has no intention of offering him a full max deal, setting the stage for crucial contract negotiations when he becomes extension eligible on August 6.<\/p>\n

Should the two sides fail to find common ground, speculation around Davis\u2019 future is expected to intensify.<\/p>\n

The veteran big man has already been linked with a blockbuster move to the Golden State Warriors, where he could reunite with former championship teammate LeBron James if the Warriors are able to land the four-time MVP.<\/p>\n

Reports suggest Davis would be willing to accept less money from a genuine contender if it improved his chances of capturing a second NBA championship.<\/p>\n

Despite the growing speculation, ESPN\u2019s Shams Charania told The Pat McAfee Show that a trade remains unlikely for now, with Washington placing a significant asking price on its franchise star.<\/p>\n

According to Charania, the Wizards are seeking multiple first-round draft picks and pick swaps in any deal, a package that would require a team such as Golden State to mortgage a significant portion of its future.<\/p>\n

LEAGUE REVIEWING FINDINGS AFTER PROBE CONCLUDES<\/p>\n

There has been a significant update in the NBA\u2019s investigation into Kawhi Leonard and Aspirations, with The Athletic\u2019s Mike Vorkunov reporting the inquiry has now concluded.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s another waiting game,\u201d Vorkunov said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe investigation, I think, is over now.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe NBA is kind of sifting through what the law firm they hired has found, whether there\u2019s a punishment or not that it wants to levy.\u201d<\/p>\n

While there is still no timetable for any potential fines or suspensions, Vorkunov believes Leonard\u2019s long-rumoured trade to the Toronto Raptors is still expected to go ahead.<\/p>\n

The proposed move was previously delayed after the NBA warned Toronto it would inherit any consequences stemming from the investigation should it complete a deal for the superstar forward.<\/p>\n
