\n The sculptures will then be auctioned in aid of cancer support charity Maggie\u2019s which is marking 30 years of transformative cancer care this year.\u00a0 Maggie\u2019s has 27 centres across the UK and eight in Scotland including ones in Glasgow, Airdrie<\/a> and Forth Valley.\n<\/p>\n

\n Steven Booth, Chair of Glasgow Vintage Vehicle Trust which has Greatest Hits Radio DJ Ken Bruce as patron, said: \u201cWe are absolutely delighted to be home to the Scotties sculptures for their final \u2018farewell weekend\u2019.\n<\/p>\n

\n \u201cI have enjoyed seeing them all over the city and seen the happiness they bring people in the same way our old buses do when they are out on the roads.\n<\/p>\n

\n \u201cHaving the Scottie sculptures and our historic vehicles together is the makings of a great family day out and the fact it is all in support of cancer support charity Maggie\u2019s in their 30th year makes it all the more special.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

\n At the \u2018farewell weekend\u2019 as well as the old vehicles there will be \u2018Scotties in the City\u2019 merchandise for sale as well as raffle tickets to win a wee Scottie dog.\u00a0 Plus, a chance to see some exclusive small Scotties not previously seen on the trail.\n<\/p>\n

\n There will also be a variety of stalls including and activities for kids.\n<\/p>\n

\n Project Manager Hayley Smith said: \u201cI can\u2019t think of a better way to say goodbye to our Scotties than by gathering them together at the home of the Glasgow Vintage Vehicle Trust for one final weekend.\n<\/p>\n

\n \u201cIt will be quite a sight to see them all amongst the old buses and coaches, it will be great fun while also giving people the opportunity to \u2018collect\u2019 any Scotties they might have missed before they are auction to raise vital funds for Maggie\u2019s, the charity that provides free expert cancer support at centres across Scotland and the UK.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

\n The \u2018Scotties in the City\u2019 art trail went live on June 18th, launched at the Riverside Museum by Maggie\u2019s Honorary Patron and broadcaster Kirsty Wark and Glasgow\u2019s Lord Provost Jacqueline McLaren.\n<\/p>\n

\n The trail, which is running for a full eight weeks, features 40 beautifully designed, giant, 50kg Scottie dog sculptures in locations across the city including Riverside Museum, the Science Centre, Kibble Palace, Milngavie and Giffnock and even Buchanan Street<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n

\n There are also a further 52 smaller Scottie dog sculptures designed by schools, nurseries and community groups can also be viewed in Glasgow libraries and at Buchanan Galleries<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n

\n According to the app, the Scottie sculptures have already been \u2018collected\u2019 more than 150,000 times in just five weeks.\n<\/p>\n

\n At the Scotties launch Kirsty Wark said: \u201cI am delighted to be here today to help launch the Scotties in the City art trail in support of Maggie\u2019s.\n<\/p>\n

\n \u201cIt\u2019s a wonderful heartwarming event to have here in Glasgow and an amazing way to help us mark 30 years of Maggie\u2019s transformative cancer care across the UK.\n<\/p>\n

\n \u201cIt is so lovely as well that so many schools, nurseries and community have been involved in designing 52 smaller Scottie sculptures which can also been seen in venues across the city over the summer.\n<\/p>\n

\n \u201cOf course, Maggie\u2019s is a charity and relies almost entirely on voluntary funding, so I hope these incredible statues will do also well at auction when the time comes and raise vital funds to help Maggie\u2019s reach as many people as possible facing a cancer diagnosis in Glasgow and the rest of Scotland.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
