Part 2 of Changing Seasons, Albee\u2019s vlog series, is strictly focused on a high-performance approach to waves that can hurt you badly, even if they might not kill you as easily as Jaws or that other psychopathic left he\u2019s had some fun with.<\/p>\n \u201cThis wave breaks really rarely and is in the middle of nowhere,\u201d Albee told Stab. \u201cIt\u2019s like a three-mile hike over some pretty heavy terrain, and there\u2019s nothing out there\u201d \u2014 meaning, the sheer weight of equipment and supplies only adds to the challenge of the trek.<\/p>\n A recent three-day swell was a good enough excuse to commit and set up camp on Maui\u2019s sticks.<\/p>\n \u201cThese were probably the best sessions I\u2019ve ever had out there,\u201d he said. \u201cMy girlfriend, who\u2019s a doctor, came with us in case anything went wrong. It probably gave me a false sense of security.\u201d Regardless of her presence, the distance from any medical facility added to the list of hazards at a spot like that. \u201cIt definitely helped me psychologically,\u201d he admitted.<\/p>\n At several points in the video above, you can see the protruding lava rock lurking just beneath the sections he\u2019s hucking himself over. \u201cThe ramp is amazing, but it\u2019s super shallow and sketchy,\u201d Albee said.
