Today, at San Diego Comic-Con, HBO Max and DC Studios unveiled the official trailer for Lanterns. The upcoming drama series starring Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan is set to premiere on HBO Max on 17 August, and the new trailer gives us our best look yet at what to expect. The trailer was revealed during a panel at SDCC featuring stars Kyle Chandler, Aaron Pierre, Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan and co-creators Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof and Tom King.<\/p>\n
Per HBO Max, \u201cThe series follows new recruit John Stewart (Pierre) and Lantern legend Hal Jordan (Chandler), two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, Earth-based mystery with cosmic ties as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.\u201d<\/p>\n
The trailer reveals the central murder mystery, but it also references Manhunters, gives us our first look at Sinestro, and another look at Guy Gardner (Nathan Fillion) and his ridiculous haircut.<\/p>\n
Lanterns<\/p>\n
Following Ryan Reynolds\u2019 Green Lantern film in 2011, Hal Jordan and the Lantern Corps seemed like they may be impossible to adapt. It\u2019s one of DC\u2019s weirder properties with a dense lore that doesn\u2019t have the cache or name recognition of Batman or Superman. Thankfully, DC Studios is giving the Hal another go with Lanterns. The trailer looks fantastic, and the tone seems to straddle the line between comedy and drama perfectly.<\/p>\n
Chandler also seems like a perfect fit to play Hal Jordan, and the chemistry between him and Pierre\u2019s John Stewart feels just right.
